PostSubject: Pulled my Parents Craftsman out of the weeds.... for the 12th time now   Mon Aug 13, 2012 8:33 pm

My parents had this old craftsman then the motor blew so they parked it then i pulled it out when i was eight and destroyed it but then i kept pulling it out once or twice a year... its been sitting for about three now and i just "found" it again so i decided it was time to fix it up and do a build.

Heres what it looks like. (sorry bout the bad resolution/ quality)

Thats one big project, Lots of missing parts. You sure you wouldn't want to get another tractor thats the same and use that one for parts instead? or do you still have parts from when you destroyed it?

Yeah, I live the 6.5hp Clones, is it the 212cc 6.5hp Predator Engine, 196cc 6.5hp Lifan Engine(5 Bolt Valve Cover), or the 196cc 6.5hp Clone Engine(4 Bolt Valve Cover)? I Personally like the 196cc 6.5hp Honda Clone Engines, They are the Real Replica of the Honda Engine.

You can get lots of performance parts for all of them, The only reason I prefer the one I like is because OEM Honda parts fit into it perfectly. If I were you I would put a High Flow Air Filter and a #92 Jet in it, and maybe you can take some rubber hose that would fit onto the adapter you can easily make a snorkel.

But the Go Kart Axle is probably a good idea, the reason I'm putting that in mine is because It will be pozzy without any troubles in the gearbox and Its a simple way for a lift kit to be added quick.

Ive got the 212cc predator motor it was practically free and its brand new. If i mud it im gonna keep the motor dry as possible. Ive had bad experiences with a go kart motor in mud before.

If i get enough money im gonna try to get a horizontal shaft 18 horsepower briggs twin or something like that then lower it so it only has like 4inches of ground clearance and if i do that i will have a powerful enough motor to run a fairly small sproket on the rear axle then im gonna probably do a direct steer set up and name it lethal velocity

been workin some more

Fenders, Dash board, side panels, brake lock, and a tire

Replaced the two skinny washers with the thickest one that would fit to keep the gears from grinding

The arm that the clutch pulley goes on was bent

Even though im gonna use a whole different set up for the motor I straightened it anyways (ive got an idea to use it as the brake.

All Cleaned up, Fenders bolted on.

Shot from the side

All tore apart (sorry these are out of order guys)

Running Boards from a P.O.S. Mtd to be bolted on soon

Dash Board Set Up

Thats all for now let me know what you guys think

thats pretty much what i had in mind for my MTD wizard - picked up a 6.5Hp greyhound horizontal shaft motor - i planned on dropping it, bot some hubs for 6" rims - straight rear axle , gonna use a drum brake setup - was going to cut a slot in the chassis for the chain and run a go kart clutch - i plan on over building it for when i either get my 20HP onan horizontal twin going or another twin to make it a serious 'go kart' hot rod.

Just havent had time to work on it, like most my projects......
