PULLEY - Lt4000 clutch/ pulley swap Empty
PostSubject: Lt4000 clutch/ pulley swap   PULLEY - Lt4000 clutch/ pulley swap Icon_minitimeJanuary 13th 2013, 12:16 am

hi i have a craftsman lt4000 model # 917257640 and i was wondering if there was anything i could do to increase the size of the engine pulley. when you push in the clutch the clutch pulley comes very close to the engine pulley, so there isnt much room to increase the size. i was thinking of putting some kind of stop so the pulley wouldnt come as close, the clutch doesnt engage until the pedal is almost all the way out so would it work to put a stop? because i think there eill still be enough slack left in the belt.

Could always reconfigure your clutch so that its further away from the front. Or redo it all together and make a double pulley clutch like FearlessFront's design. He has a tutorial on YouTube on how to make one.

The third option is to reverse the clutch direction.

I posted this once before, but couldn't find the thread. The red arrow points to the old place where the linkage connected to the clutch. The green arrow shows the direction the clutch engages now. This mod requires replacing the V pulley with a flat pulley. You might also have to make adjustments on brake travel.

I just put a 4.5in on mine and it clears the clutch.
Hope it helps.

@cmanlt4000 did you have to modify your hood to fit those front tires on? I have 18'' on the front and it barely clears the hoods when the tractor is on flat ground.
