Well guys i have started to build my lifted mud mower. I took it to school for a metals project so i only get to work on it for about 40 minutes a day. Today I got the front end off and the frame cut so its flat. I grinded it down and had to cut a notch in my angle iron for the hood mounts. I will try to get pics posted soon but like i said its at school cant use phones much. Hopefully tomorrow get at least half of it welded on with a big miller wire welder. Im also running thick wire in the welder and a hotter temp so it holds i just need help with my steering extension if anyone can help it would be great!!!!!!!!!! Very Happy

For my steering I just got a piece of rod that was the same thickness as the steering and cut the steering rod in the middle then put the rod

in between the two steering pieces and welded them. But make sure your steering is the right length or the steering will be screwed up.

sorry I had a picture on my phone but my phone is broken.

How much damage was done, did it just burn the wiring or did it melt metal?

You can post pics using an external source such as Photobucket. Glad to here you got it done. Sad to here you had a loss. If it's as small as it looks in your avatar, you shouldn't need a very big one. Check Craigslist.

I am very sad to see this very rare model modified. I am assuming that had a 30 inch mower deck. I have only seen one other like yours. They are extremly rare. They are from the late 70's.

Yes that is very rare. I am a Murray fanatic and have been researching for over 2 years and have been talking with Murray purists that have been researching Murray for as long as I have been alive and we have only seen one other like yours. Even though its rare its not very
valuble because its just a Murray. If you had it in origanal condition or even restored to factory condition its only worth about $200 tops. But Murray purists like myself still enjoy seeing them

I say that about a few of my tractors - like my 82 dynamark and 70 toro - yeah theyre old, but if a racer came along and bot them- theyd be all hacked up for racing.

Ive only seen one other 70's toro ( took parts off it in a junkyard) and a few in pics online - which have been modded.

98Murray correct me if I'm wrong, but the only thing particularly rare about that model is the hood. That being the case, that hood could always be swapped out for a
run-of-the-mill hood right?

I like that Huskee with duals! The lifted Murray is rare for everything it has. At the time Murray mostly made that same model but with a
36 inch deck
11 horse Briggs
Different transaxle
Different size tires
And the grille is different because there are no lights.
These hoods are not rare. These hoods are common. Murray only made two 30 inch front engine rider models, the one pictured above from the late 70's and a mid 80's model with different frame, hood, grille, and fenderpan.

Not sure if you know but that Huskee was made by Murray and it is also a rare one. Murray only had that hood style for 2 years and most of them were on Craftsmans. I have never seen a Huskee with that hood before and neither have the other Murray purists. I would like you to know that I am a Murray purist but do enjoy seeing modded Murrays. You sir have a very nice mower that you can be proud of. Also I know I already said this but that Huskee looks badazz!!! I like the duals

I really like the duallies on that Huskee. Must have been really stable. I plan on putting duallies on my 80s Agway GT.

That trans makes it more rare but not more valuble. These machines are so old that there not really worth much. If your tractor was fully restored to showroom new condition it would only be worth $200 on todays market. You have actually made it more valuble by lifting it because now it is cool and cool is usually worth more.
