| Awesome, isn't the exhaust going to blow in your face though? The camo paint will be cool. What size angle steel did you use and what gauge? | |

| k guys heres how im doing the rearend first i took two old big pulleys and cut out the centers, then i slid the centers onto a 5/8 shaft and welded all around this will act as a cupling for the input shaft and 5/8 shaft extension then i got a jackshaft bearing or you could use a pillowblock bearing i welded the bearing mount to a solid brace to keep the shaft from moving back and forth, this suports the shaft and will keep it from ripping out your input shaft this is it all together you just add keys, set screws and a pulley on top with a little snap ring grove to hold it all on and heres some pics in the light still needs more work paint, welding, and still doesnt move | |

| That beast is looking awesome, like the shaft idea, but I have 2 concerns. 1: keeping those set screws tight and 2: that mild steel rod as a shaft. I can't say for sure but I think an old axle would probly be stronger? Hope your setup works tho. You've definitely put alot of work into it and I hope it works well! I have thought about a setup like that, but I was thinking about using a small U-joint (from a steering shaft of a car) in there somewhere to keep it turning smooth. Just throwin out some Ideas don't hate lol. I'm going to have to start building a monster as well, I will accept any and all criticism from you gratefully lol !

I've got a very good running 1966 2 1/4 HP Briggs horizontal shaft! out of a power trowel made by Master Vibrator LOL , got the motor for free, put n a pedal bike. I'll post up pics when I find 'em ! | |

| Is it me ( or the angle of the picture) or does that shaft to the trans look like its at a slight angle?
Looks cool tho - id put a tack weld on that adapter collar as well.
Ford Boi: My oldest motor is a 70 verticle shaft 5HP ( still runs- its on my toro tractor) - i have a 69 8HP - but it was in pieces when i got it- never seen it run.

| sorry guys havent got much done this past weekend i spent most of my time playing in the mud with my other monstermower and broke it again, but i did change out the flywheel and starter and it runs great. the last flywheel had a stupid plastic gear on it and half the teath were stripped. but anyways dangeroustoys56 was right about the shaft being on a slant and i just didnt want to say anything because i was in a hurry and screwed up. i made one of the tranny drop downs an inch shorter than the other one so, i have another frame laying around with the dash i need already on it so this winter i am going to start rebuilding this mower and build it right this time, but i am not sure what tranny to use. i have a sumwhat good 6 spd thats in it now but the axle shafts are loose and move around. i also have a 4spd wich i think is weeker but it is pretty much 100% sealed so no mud or water will get in it. or my final choice is to put out about 75$ rims and tires to fit on it and buy a peerless 820 with the one inch shafts wich are pretty Much bullet proof for mowers i hear so let me know what you think i should do | |
