| To me the crotch rocket motor would be really awesome, I'm putting one in my golf cart, the 3 wheeler motor would be good for torque | |

| I've transplanted a lot of motors into a lot of different toys. I do think that I'm happiest with the built 12.5hp flatty that's close to the original motor that came on my tractor. I like the electric start and that it functions as or better than stock. More power, more speed, but still a lawn tractor. I guess it depends on your purpose of your build. If I want to ride something with a 500cc 2-stroke motor, I hop on my dirt bike.... If I want to ride something with a 1575cc v-twin I ride the harley. But sometimes I just want to ride a flathead Lawn tractor. | |

| look for a Honda magna you can find them very cheap i owned a V45 750cc and it would get up and go later on a dropped in a police engine from a V65 honda magna and was just a crazy bike after that so all in all for speed i would go with a honda magna V65 there not so cheap but reliable | |

| So can I get as much power and speed from a vertical shaft engine as a horizontal shaft? Which is better for speed application | |

both produce the same power. however, if youre doing a race mower, it depends. if you want to do a chain drive and engineer your own axle, use a horizontal. if you want to use a transaxle with a vertical input, then youre gonna want a vertical shaft engine. it all depends how much work you want | |

| Sorry I replied to first page lol. Work doesnt bother me but I'd prolly use a live axle from bmi would it explode using say a bike engine? Or should I just try and soop up a twin? I saw this one shops build of a john deere doin crazy burn outs and it had ridiculous speed. I messaged him and they said it was a modified 23 hp briggs! | |

| The axle wouldn't explode from the power. AS with everything, more power means you use larger chains, axles, etc. Solid axle is stronger than most geared differentials. the hey is starting from the motor, and work the power back to the wheels. | |
