LT 1000 ATV Mower Build Empty
PostSubject: LT 1000 ATV Mower Build   LT 1000 ATV Mower Build Icon_minitimeDecember 1st 2013, 10:43 pm

Started on this build, things i have done so far
1. 3 inch or 4 inch pully on rear
2. 7 or 8 inch on the front
3. Briggs 11 hp engine moded, high compression and advanced timing so far.
4. new front end
Things to do
1. gear oil in tranny
2.ATV crab on engine
3. Handle bars in stead of steering wheel
4.big front and rear tires
5. connect steering
6.skid plates
7. new clutch
8. more than likely better brakes
9. winch
10. lights
11. any other cool mods
I got this mower for free and it had a opposed twin on it witch i put on my racing mower and took the racing mower engine and put on this because it doesn't really need extreme power.  I got it because the person i got it from was jumping it and driving it on trails and they managed to hit a tree and bend and crack the front sway bar.
Here is a video of it when i accidentally ret*rded the timing test running the engine.

Nice! Craftsman frames are good bases. Spicer rear axle? And with that engine turned you might have space for a ammo box under the hood!

Why turn the engine and bring the weight out of the center, and why is your engine shooting blue flames out that 6 inch pipe LOL

I thought about that! I hve the ammo box already that will fit, what i want to do is mount the winch in there, but I have thought of putting a stand on top of the winch to put the ammo box on because of how big the hood is.

Well the engine is turned because that was the only way the bolt holes lined up because it had a twin cylinder on it, I could redrill the holes, but everything lines up perfect with the engine turned, the exhaust is already out the side then and starter is near the battery and i have room for a winch or something up front. So im not going to bother turning it, i can add counter weight if need be.
The engine was sooting flames because instead of advancing the timing i accidentally ret*rded it because i was to tired to know what i was doing, Its defiantly not good for the engine by no means especially with the short pipe.

Nice video footage. Did you change the timing with an off-set key or some other way. I was messing around with a push mower engine once and just set the flywheel where I wanted it without the key and tightened up the nut. Worked ok and didn't seem to move. On some engines the taper of the crank holds the flywheel pretty tight.

This one has a tapered shaft so i did like you said and just tightened it down good, for good measure though I will be putting lock tight in it when i get it where i like it because a backfire wile starting it will through it off a bit no matter how tight it is because it has a electric starter turning the flywheel instead of a pull rope yanking more on the crank if you understand what im getting at.
