Hey guys, i was thinking of a few things while watching some youtube videos. i see people do 5th gear drops in the mud and it goes flying and everyones happy. I have yet to get to that stage in how my belt is hooked up. I make my double pulley clutch on the left side of the tractor (if you were standing behind it). I was thinking when i see all the other stock tractors, the clutch is on the right side. Is that becuse when theres a load on the belt, it will just un-tention the clutch? My belt is quite tight. I dunno why it still slips in higher gears. When i do my 820 swap it will be a good time to move my clutch if this is a problem

Pic explains this better

Try flipping it.. The stock set up may even help pull it tighter

It looks like your way will also tighten, since you have the clutch pulleys also swapped on the belt, but I guess its always good to not do the cluthing on the "drag" torque side of the belt.

Tensioners and clutches are best done on the slack side of the belt.

Shouldn't be to hard to remount it. I'll just do that with the axle swap and shifter redo

The clutch needs to be on the "slack side". Basically look at the engine pulley dragging the belt around like if you were pulling on a rope.

The " rope" is the length of belt moving from the transaxle towards the engine (the engine pulley is "pulling the rope")... This is the tension side... This is what is doing the actual work.

The slack side is where the belt is coming off the engine pulley and heading back to the transaxle. Since the transaxle isn't actively pulling the slack side, putting a clutch there allows you to effectively shorten the belt without fighting the pull of the engine.

Is today national bring threads back from the dead day? Lol this is the second one today that's at least a year old. Redline did a video or two on this a while ago. The clutch is to be on the slack side.

So you want your tractor clutch to be like the stock mower photo? Is that correct?
