It should have the 2300, and if its the Kohler 10-12HP its great. But might be hard or expensive to find parts. Square fenders was from 1968-1974.

And you can put a bid on it for 150$ Doubt he'll get 250 for it.

Those kohlers are heavy and have some awesome torque behind them. great engines, great frame, and overall a good rear, the 2300's have 1" axles i believe

I have pretty much the same exact tractor that someone gave me. They have a oil filled steering box, which is geared kind of low for mowing if you have to do a lot of steering. Mine has a rod knock, smokes horribly, and has a worn out steering box. Motor is cast iron block kohler, 7 hp? Fiberglass hood. Cast iron front axle. Cast iron transmission. Mower drive has a clutch build into the pulley vs the traditional belt clutch setup. High grass smokes mine. It doesn't do too good on the hills traction wise, I think it's too heavy. Mine has a million hours on it which is most of the problem. There are some rugged parts on it that would be usable. I personally don't like it for mowing even though it cuts pretty good, not that that's what this website is about. I almost forgot about the clutch, It has a variable deal in with it (lever operated). Also, when you let the clutch out, it's one of those slow release things. Instead of instant grab, you get a slow take off no matter how fast you take your foot off the clutch. I guess you could get rid of that if you wanted.

I believe it IS a 2300. I have a line on one myself, hoping I can score it.

Didn't realize anyone wanted them. I was thinking of possibly scrapping mine sometime. After I save a few parts off of it of course... I just remembered It has some working headlights in it that I could use!

3" Very Happy  since it has the cast iron bearing supported shoulders.

You can plow and use ground engaging equipment with it, that would rip my LT1000 in half, so.. it's strong.

Good stuff! (I'm still hoping to get that 210, though. Wicked transaxle!) Hope it works out for you.
