Well I was out at my dads today for my nephews birthday party and we got to talking about some of the junk he had laying around and how he wanted to clean up a little. Well we went down to see this junk and I found this old ATV frame, he said the motor ran but it smoked and made some knocking noises. I figured I could use the front axle and tires and the rear axle and tires for my lawn mower.

I like the axle, I think I will widen it a little though, we'll see how it looks under the mower.

He even had this Sentinel, he said the motor runs fine but the transmission didn't engage or shit right. I figured I could look at it, it may just be some linkages.

Here is my daughter riding her tractor, I have it governed down so it really doesn't go to fast, but the kids love to drive it.

Here is my Dynamark, I like how the grill looks. This is getting torn apart and being made into my 1st off road tractor.

I like the hood on those Dynamarks too. That should make a nice off road machine! YOu may need to reinforce the chassis though. My Al Ko was similar, with a big one piece stamped chassis, and I managed to twist and crack it!
Cant wait to see how it come along. That quad frame in good too, I could do with one myself Wink

Cool stuff- i had a dynamark like that - shoulda never sold it. The sentinel one is also a dynamark.

The ATV chassis will make an awsome off roader chassis.

Unfortunately the motor is blown, has a whole right threw the block. Time to look for a motor. But the rest of the kart is in great shape.

Imagine a twin horizontal shaft on that cart- thing would do wheelies.

Atv motor on the go kart. That would be awsome!

I love atv parts, they are roughly the same size as lawn tractor parts.

I just pick up an old Craftsman motor, dont know the HP, thinking its an 8hp. I will get pics up later, this motor was bought new, ran for 5 minutes then pushed to the back of the work bench. It has been sitting there for about 20 years according to the owner. I snatched it up, paid $40 for it. I'll get some pics later. Should have this thing up and running in a couple weeks. bounce

So it turns out to be a 1993 Tecumseh 7hp motor. I think it will work just fine on that kart.

Nice old motor, It's cool that its got v-belt pullies on the flywheel. 7hp should be plenty for a kart!

yea, and its a rope start, you have to wind a rope around the flywheel and pull. Kinda neet but probably gonna be a pain.

I like rope start, Very reliable! I hate re-coils... I wish I could put a rope start back-up on all my machines. Couldn't imadgine tring to pull start a high compression 12.5 briggs though. Shocked

I tried to just bolt a pulley on top of the grill thing on the motor and man wat a pain in the ass.

Find a 12 volt electric motor or starter /generator- then you can mount that up with a belt for electric start.

yea, would be the same as my case. I'm gonna see how easy it is to start this thing, If I can get it to start with 1 or 2 pulls, I will just leave it this way. Less to go wrong.
