 Video editing software?

hey guys redzz02 here, ive had long troubles with video editing software and always having problems with them or them not working at all, does anyone know of a good free video editing software that wont give me a virus Evil or Very Mad something that will edit 720 p hd video, i have some mower and truck romping footage i would like to upload, but the software i currently have stopped on me. or do i have to fork out the 50-100$ for some software? Much thanks guys!

I use windows movie maker and works awesome. Very simple for me. Wish I could do more like video overlay with audio still rolling though.

I use GoPro studios. Like red said though. Its cheap, so you can't really do fancy stuff. But, just for making half decent videos it's Ok.

I'm pretty sure you can take the audio from a clip and put it where you want. Maybe you can't get it lined up easily or anything though. I never tried getting too fancy because I always forget what clip is what and everything gets messed up if you move the wrong thing. WMM is all I have used so far though.
