I am planning on repainting the PTM, if I can find the right shade of orange. All the paint I have found isn't bright enough. Someone said that chevy engine orange is pretty close, I may try to get some of that. It runs on desel, I start it on gas, run it for about 1min on gas and switch to desel and turn the mixture screws out 1/2 turn on the idle and 1 on the main. doesn't smoke much, at idle it makes more noise than on gas, but It doesn't detonate much, it only has about 40 lbs of compression anyway.

Interesting to hear it runs pretty good on diesel.

Yeah I figured it would ping really bad on diesel since other articles I have read said that I needed to raise the head to get less compression so it would run without knocking, but I guess that since the engine is so worn out it has little enough compression that it works. In the video of it pilling I was running gas, so you can see how much it smokes...

Ok guys I am really busy with college so I don't have much time to paint this, and our weather is freezing or almost freezing, so It doesn't look like I will get to painting it. I may try, but I don't guarantee I will get it done. So I would say I'm done unless I get it painted. Thanks for bearing my boring posts this year. Rolling Eyes

Ok kids I have decided I will leave the stock paint for the patina, and just leave it the way it is. I will try to get some up to date pics of it before Monday. Other than that, THIS BUILD IS COMPLETE!

Ok guys the build is complete. here are some specs:
original 1960 7hp model 19 briggs with adjusted governor- idles at 400 rpm and full throttle is about 4500
craftsman plastic fuel tank (stocker rusted out, and craftsman has more capacity)
5" rear pulley (9" stock)
locked differential by cleaning the grease off the parts in the stock external limited slip system and tightening the adjusters all the way (simplicity limited slip is adjustable by tightening two 7/16 bolts on the outside of the diff)
23x10.5x12 rear cut turf tires
16x4x8 carsle super lug ag front tires
go-cart steering wheel in place of missing stock one
simplicity dozer blade
wheelie bars and hitch for pulling
rototiller is attachable but runs off the same lift lever as the blade so it's not on at the moment
craftsman seat in place of stock missing seat
3" stack with rain cap

This tractor turned into more of a resto-mod than I first intended. I would have done bumpers but I hate to weld to this frame. I was just about to paint it but then decided that it looks cooler with the factory paint. Congrats to all who finished the build-off!
