Here we go again!  I think this one will perform much better than my previous aerosan.  13hp engine w/ re-drive, HDPE skis, thin wall tubing frame, trailer spindles w/ coilovers on rear for transport.  Right now it is mocked up with an old uncoated pine prop.  Barely scoots along the grass with me in it, bigger prop will be made  Very Happy .

Did you make that prop yourself too? Looks pretty much perfect. I see the prop now mounted in it's own bearings. A guy on youtube mentioned to me about the side thrust from the prop on the engine case which I didn't think of before. When are you gonna build a plane? You realize in the united states an ultra light doesn't require a pilots license if it's under a certain weight. Forget the particulars, but I think that's how it works. Obviously some areas you can't fly in and all that. I've gotta make an air powered bicycle!

No ultralights for now, with aircraft you can't take shortcuts Razz .
Bearings are mostly for the reduction gearing to spin a bigger prop for more thrust w/ less HP (see Thrust vs. Horsepower chart below with different diameter prop thrust curves)

Started on 6.5' maple prop ,biggest propeller to date! (about the same size as a Piper Cub)

How did your other earlier props hold up? Any issues with them at all or not really?

You could skin the aerosan deal with canvas or something to stay out of the cold. Looks almost like a dog sled frame. Neat three wheeler.
