So I pulled this out of the junkyard almost four months ago and built it up with a very minimal amount of money. It is a 1968 Simplicity Landlord with a 240000 series 10hp cast iron block engine with a starter generator electric start system. It is currently pulley swapped with 3 inch on the trans and a 6 1/2 inch on the engine. It tops out at around 30mph. This is it then.

Yes it came with the atv tires. I took them off another lawnmower in the yard because the original rear tires were full of holes.

Here is a better picture of what it really looks like.
Simplicity - 1968 Simplicity Landlord Offroad Dscn1810
Alright so last weekend i bought a complete engine from the junk yard(that's kinda where i get all my stuff)and i had it apart in an hour and back up and running in two days. The engine is a syncro-balanced 12hp 300000 series cast iron block engine that now runs beautifully and loves gas.
Apart

Together

got the 10hp out

side by side comparison 10vs12

Sorry i forgot to take a picture after i was done but ill get one soon.

Wow very nice. The 12hp should be a considerable difference, I think the dicplacement of the 12 is greater than the 10hp by like 3ci lol.

yea there's a pretty big difference in displacement. The displacement of the 10hp is 393cc (23.98ci)and the 12hp is 494cc (30.15ci). But so far the 12hp is performing ALOT better than the 10hp ever did. Now i just burn more gas but, thats all. Cool

so today i was riding my lawnmower around and my muffler fell right off. turns out my pipe broke
Simplicity - 1968 Simplicity Landlord Offroad Imag0513
Simplicity - 1968 Simplicity Landlord Offroad Imag0514
but im thinking about doing a straight pipe exhaust with a spare pipe ive got sitting around anyways and the muffler came from a different lawnmower that ive got.
also ive got some rims that i bought so i can get some new wider tires to mount on them for the front and back

I'm such an idiot. So today when I got home I was bored so i took my lawnmower into the woods to go through some mud hoping I'd come out without getting stuck but, of course I get stuck. So now I hate myself because I might actually have to take it apart to get it unstuck. Woohoo... I've had my mower stuck worse than that. Tie a chain to the front and pull it out with something. Or lift it out! Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Take a chain, a come-along, and a nearby tree to pull it out. Or wait till it dries up and drive it out. Looks good tho.

What he did was he tied the strap to the back of the mower and to a tree and just tightened the strap til it was out of the mud.

Actually that is a homemade pull start, but i took that off once i got my new engine because the new engine has super strong compression and is almost impossible to pull start

Sorry for the wait on the update but, here it is!

So I got the tires and look at the size compared to our Subaru Outback and look at the beefy tread pattern
Simplicity - 1968 Simplicity Landlord Offroad Img_0010
Simplicity - 1968 Simplicity Landlord Offroad Img_0011
Got them mounted at the tire shop in town and got them on the mower within the hour. The only problem i had is I had to raise the fenders
Simplicity - 1968 Simplicity Landlord Offroad Img_0012
Simplicity - 1968 Simplicity Landlord Offroad Img_0013
Also i built a new intake to keep the water out of the engine
