Did some playing today with the welder.  I took off my bumper  and redid some of the welds on it, and finished others.

Here's is the little skid plate I had at first.  Sorriest weld I think I have ever done.



Here is the same joint that I went back over.



I went back over a couple other welds on it as well as added a couple others. Pretty solid now!

What kind of welder is it?

I like the bumper Red over the Black I had it.  Amazing how things comes out when you use what you got.  

Looking much better Mighty. I kinda tried to explain my welds in Paint, but I'm not very good at it lol.

You can see with stick, I try to use a sort of S pattern. With MIG/FCAW, I do what I call overhand O's. I pass into the next O on the top/downstroke, hence the overhand name(I tried to simplify it kinda freehand there lol. Practice makes perfect! You do what you're comfortable with.

I usually do little circles for both MIG and ARC, I just find it easier to move forwards/backwards. I've tried the sweeping method before and it didn't really feel right haha. Like Rich said whatever is most comfortable!

Just an AC machine?

Yeah, it's a pretty old machine. The A and B electrode plugs on the front I think are for High and Low range.

That's OK, I am just installing an old winch on it.    I do have cable and a hook for it as well.

It's older than dirt. It use to be on my dad's old pickup. This is the 3rd or 4th cable on it. Still works. I had to tap one of the posts and screw in a new post to get it to work.

first time hi so how fast is mine going to run with a 5 in pully?

I have an mst206. 6 inch on the engine and 5 on the transaxle. I can hit 30 mph.

In other words...

Remember that land that I ride on that was purchased?  Well I took advantage of last night's storms to ride the wash a few more times.  I didn't ride over the rest of the land.  Water was about a foot deep where I was riding.

So long nice riding spot, You have been fun this year.  They have been bulldozing the land.  Not long I feel until this part is gone.



I didn't think of it when I was going back through, but my rear tires were starting to spin pretty bad and I tried to catch that. I should have hit it full throttle and seen the water fly!

Took Red out last night for some speed runs.  I didn't get any video, or pictures, but it was some fun flat surface riding!  I figured out the transaxle brake problem.  One of the 2 bolts is stripped out.  When I brake, instead of the bracket pushing the pad on the disk, the pad pushes the bracket out away from the disk.

thats what e make them for to have fun sounds like a tap and die set come in handy.

One of the brake bolts for Mutt's 820 broke off when I first got her. I ran for a few months without brakes, at the time I could just disengage the electric clutch and use it as a bit of a brake. When I went to a normal pulley, I found out that I really do need brakes. Had to drill out the bolt(left hand bit), and then retap the hole. Managed to keep the original size hole too. You'll probably have to put in a helicoil though.

I've contemplated a drum brake off the axle with a separate pedal and doing away with the trans brake.

That or a disk brake would work great.
