i also drilled and tapped a drain and a fill plug for the oil.

i cleaned the diff real well because im trying to figure out how im going to lock it. im not sure about fozzy yet.

i cleaned up the bearings and regreased them.

Its locked!! I just welded the pin to the 2 spiders. Ill see how long it holds up. If it blows i have another trans that i can put a straight axle in.

If I were you I'd replace that reverse chain. After seeing what was in there, I wouldn't think it would have much life left.

Its a good idea haha but thats pretty much just a temporary trans. I have another one that im going to rebuild properly. Do you know what size chain that is? Im going to order some.

i had quite a bit of fun with this thing lately. but i broke it !!

the axle snapped. the axle was the type with the flat spots and i also ground a keyway in it. add the bolt hole to that and you realise that theres not much left of axle.

since in at my grandparents house till next week i had to come up with a temporary fix. i cut the sheared off bit of he shaft off and i welded a bolt to the end of that, so right now thats whats holding my wheel on.

im geting a sraight axle from princess auto next week to doc lock my trans

yep its a good reason but i do have to drive 2 and a half hours to go get the axle. the closest princess auto is 240km away. itll take a day to go get the axle but its worth it.

Wow that's quite a trip to get to Princess Auto! But you're right, it'll totally be worth it.

so this tractor is getting an 18hp opposed twin !! finally found one for cheap enought (30$), it wil be ungoverned, ill have to relocate the fuel tank and maybe find a bigger one. With that engine i might endup breaking the 801 again but i have spares lol.

i was thinking of putting an 8inch on the new engine, the trans has a 6 inch. i want some more speed and now with the new engine ill have more than enought power.

also i have brand new knobbies , i got them with a small 70cc chinese quad, im gonna put them on the front, they will probably be way better than the crappy smooth tires i have right now. they look to be 16 inch im not sure tho.

does anyone know how many amps the stock charging system produces on a twin ?

Don't quote me on this, I'm not 100% sure but its at least 3 amp and at the most 6 amp(?) But like I said, I'm not 100 percent.

Some put out AC volts, so be cautious. Does it have a "Diode" on the charging system wire? If so you should be good with DC AMPS.

i know some have the ac lighting circuit, i just want to know how much the dc side can put out. my old twin would put out 6 amps, im just not sure about this one. i may put an alternator on this machine too. i just dont know where to mount because i dont want it too low.

finally got some time to work on the yard man. i got all the parts for the doc locker togheter, i got a bullgear from my spare trans and assembled most of the parts.

here it is.

i also mounted a carb to the new opposed twin. it from a 16hp briggs intek. this carb is just to see if it runs, if the carb performs good ill keep it but if not ill have to find another one.

l]

oh i also realized that the new twin has pressure lube. i just dont have the dipstick tube ill have to find something to take its place.

Hm, I wonder where you got the idea for using that carb from?

I doubt a dipstick tube is that expensive, its only a piece of plastic and metal. How is the doc locker gonna work like that? Gonna weld in the pins to the carrier with a slot cut out for em in the hub?

mmm who could it be lol. thanks again, rro. turns out the stock intake from the intek flipped should work good enough for a test run

i know it shoudnt be expensive but i cant find where to get one. and ill just weld the pin to the hub and cut the excess, this way i cant still remove my axle if i need to.
