HAHA!  I personally haven't seen the one with 2 wingnuts on top personally.

Small but good progress tonight.  Got my footboards painted.

Started installing the electrical.  First the important stuff that makes the engine go v-room!  Also realized I need to come up with a gas petal.  I do not want to do the bike brake handle.

Like to run a cable from the ground point to the engine.

Making clean connectors, taking my time.

Started laying out the stitches on the dash piece.  I will use the throttle for the choke and the PTO hole for a horn button.

Yep,  2 position pull out style with parking and headlight.  Cool

Left: course the ammeter, had to get a new one the old one corroded and fell out. Above that will be my horn button.

Right, will be key switch, above that the hazard switch, and the chrome toggle will be left and right signal and the throttle lever will be choke. Throttle will be foot only.

:-)

Yep, I have one on Li'l Red too.

Here is a pic of the one on Red.

This may give an idea of the wiring on the Squatch.

Using 87a on relay for brake due to my clutch switch is normal closed.

shot out the door this morning....

I was surprised the notches on the bottom of the seat lined up perfectly with the tracks on the mount.  Just need a bolt.  Research says 5/8 x 1.5 inches.

HAHA, fresh paint.  When I got it, it was just primer they called red, but I would call plum.  LOL  It still has some curing time on top.  It may dull a little but I don't think it will.  That was after 12 hours when I took the pic.  Not doing anything with it till this weekend.  Finding a bolt on the other hand is proving to be a little more difficult than I thought.  5/8 carriage bolts seem hard to come by.

I will say, using the same paint on the plum looking primer came out REALLY bright. It may be due to the black contrast instead of the grey on the rest of the tractor at this point.

Working on the wiring again today. I also put some stickies on the tractor!  Also got my footboards installed and anti-skid stuck to them.

I also let it out in the sun for a bit while I swept the garage.  Lots of dirt and grass had been tracked in.

Had a little help from my goofy helper!

Still lack the signal lights. But I'l get there. Need to tie up the right side cables so they do not get into the tires still. Tomorrow I hope to get the dash finished. And Maybe, just maybe start her up. I'm not sure if I will get there this weekend or not. I will try!

PostSubject: Re: Mightyraze's "Sasquatch II" [2017 Build-Off Entry]   Sat Apr 15, 2017 8:57 pm

OK, big update today.  Worked several hours today on the Squatch tractor.  I got all the wiring that I could get done today.  I am still waiting on my signal lights to come in.  Everything else is wired and ready to go.

First thing to overcome was to wire the hazard into the signal wires and not have the left-right trigger the other.  A kind of one-way bridge.  That was easily overcome by using some diodes to trap the direction of current.

I got them sealed up and later finished.  Current can come from the single plug on the right for the hazard to the left and right juncture on the signal switch.  But with the diodes on the post connector side will not allow the signal switch current to flow back to the hazard switch and back down to the other side.

My diagram for the relay was wrong.  I thought my saftey switch on the clutch/brake was normal closed.  It was normal open.
Moved trigger from 87a to 87.  Pic of the dash all buttoned down.  I forgot to take a picture of the back side, organized chaos of wires.

There is how she sits today.  I may work on the exhaust tomorrow when we get home from my parents.

Another shot of the cockpit, I did fix the steering center.  :-)

Here is a little video update:

Things I still need to do:

  • Install signal lights when they get in

  • Paint the front clip

  • Weld up and install new engine pulley

  • Install belt and give this thing a proper drive

After that, check to see if there are any final touches that will need addressed.  Recheck torque on the head and the sump bolts after the engine has had a chance to get hot from running.

Not sure of the mix, but definite Pit-bull Terrier. He's only about 13 months old.

One more video update of the wires I do not have lights for yet.  I found the old tail lights from sasquatch and used them to test the circuitry.

Also updated my wiring diagram to the tractor.  Colors do not match actual wires but does make for an easier to read schematic.

Yeah I need to get the engine pulley on and see where I sit belt wise. I also got the hood up now on the rolling work space to start breakdown and prep for paint. Once the gas made it to the carb it fired right off and ran great! Better than it has. Dash mounted fuel shut off worked great. Didn't even blow smoke on the left pipe. Then again, it doesn't have the blown head gaskets anymore. After running for about 5 minutes and heating up good, no leaks. Fired right back up again later without choke.

I need a longer cable for the choke to use the throttle lever.

Exhaust is almost done.  All I want to do from this point is wrap the black pipe section of the exhaust.  I need to get it.

Also found a retro looking briggs sticker for my blank side of the fan shroud.

Got the choke hooked up to the old throttle lever and installed.  I have an idea for the gas pedal but will take a bit work the kinks out and build.  Probably won't have any new updates till this weekend.  I'm going to take a few days break from it.

Edit: Also took apart the hood group and will be scuffing it up for paint this weekend, but they are predicting storms with possible tornado's this Friday. Not sure if I will get any paint time in SAT. It's been mid 80's for the last few weeks here now and this SAT is suppose to be in the 50's after the storm comes through Friday. scratch

Thank you.

I did get some work done today.  The rain coming in changed some of the weekend plans so I will be getting some of work done tomorrow as well.

Did record another video of it running.  Let it run again today for about 5 minutes to help break in those gaskets.
