The Murray with Mow name.

not sure if this is where it's final destination will be yet as I am still tossing up some seat suspension options, one of which could need the rear space under the seat yet, in that case the tank will move forward and a filler will be installed in the body of the mower somewhere.

That's a pretty neat setup with that tank and the electric pump.

Cheers, should work out well, I have tripled my fuel capacity and still plenty of room left for the compressor and some storage so a very happy camper here.

That is pretty nifty! I was looking at those a while back and wished they had a stand up version and I would have put it on my tractor Red.

So after some thinking I ended up moving the fuel tank forward as far as possible to free up the rear under seat area and spun it 180 degrees so the fuel outlet is closer to the engine, following pics are of fabrication and installation of the tank and filler.

first I made an aluminium strap to go over the centre of the tank from end to end, and made fixing points on the mower to accommodate.



then I scored these two BFP parts from the local hardware store to make the filler neck, however I only ended up using the one on the left,



which I was lucky enough to have screw straight into the original filler opening on the tank.



I also added a rubber washer in between the tank and the fitting to seal and allow it to tighten enough.

next up was to do more massaging on the bodywork.

This is turning out to be quite the machine! Very nice work! What kind of speed are you aiming for exactly? Should do pretty well at speed with the front end you have

Man your fab skills are awesome! I really like the new placement of the tank. Should be good center of gravity when it is full.

Cheers CraftsmanQuad19 I am hoping for a bit of speed as the distances I have to cover on it are quite a way, 1000's of acres to play on, but that said I don't want too much top end and not have enough for the hard yards like towing a small trailer of camping gear etc. I can tell you I have modified the transaxle pulley and is now a 5 inch and the engine pulley I have made is a 5 1/2 inch, not sure what that will get me as this is my first play with modding mowers but should be good for a start I thought.

haha good old Waynes world, gotta love em, cheers I thought the tank would fair better their for weight also it frees up the rear for my seat idea I am thinking of, not 100% yet but I know what I want just a matter of finding the right parts now.

That should net you about 20 mph. Mine is 4 inch rear and 4.75 inch front and does alright. 1st gear is still nice and torquey and 6th has enough top end for the streets. Also, if you don't do your seat suspension idea, the back end of that tunnel will make a great storage space

20 mph I can live with that, should be a good place to start, all I know is it had to be faster than mowing lawns, lol, storage options are running through my head also, might have a little bit of a plan for a couple of small ammo box mounts.

so after mentioning my idea about the ammo boxes I dug one out of the shed and had a play, reckon it should work out good looking at it. So out with the grinder and let the fun begin, stay tuned for some mudguard mounted mower storage madness.

sorry... in a wierd mood!  LOL.

have been doing a little on the build where possible, have one side guard done and swapped the shifter opening while at it to the left hand side, as you can see from the last picture I made it so the ammo boxes can be removed to access the contents as once the rear rack is made you wont be able to access the catches on them if fixed like I had originally planned.

Wow that looks really good! Once painted it's gonna look like it was built that way haha.

Very nice, Just going to use the seat to hold them in, or will you have a lock down of some sort? Hate to see your boxes fall out if you flip or roll some how. (Hopefully you do not, but it happens)

they will have catches or straps on them to hold them in place, I will be building this with rollovers in mind, ,lol.

This mower is so cool. I may steal an idea or two in the future.

that would be cool to see, I will add a few more pics of them once the other side is done and show the bracing etc underneath in more detail, all made with free steel from motorbike shipping crates.

You going to have any issues with the tires and the boxes? They do look close!

yes as they are I will have issues I think, but doing a solid axle swap and will be adding 10mm either side for clearance, there is about 8mm there now, that will give me a little under an inch of clearance for those confused by all my foreign talk in mm's.

You're fine talking in metric. There is a good mix of countries represented here!

Gday to all, so after 3 weeks of the flu and it almost killing me and another week and a half to catch up both physically and financially I'm back and ready to mod. Just have a quick question for those in the know, with a solid axle conversion would it be a bad move to use stainless steel for the axle itself as I have access to some in the right diameter but am not up to speed with what to use for axles etc. stainless does worry me a little hence the question.
