| Barbed fitting- Get a 1/4" NPT pipe to 1/4" Hose fitting. They're usually brass. Chuck it in a vise and cut the last 3 threads off. Teflon tape it well, and screw it in. Why cut it? If you don't, it will bottom out and hit the shift fan.
I've been using this method for years.

Go figure! LOL- The above applies to ALL Peerless pancake style aluminum transmissions and transaxles. 700, 800 (Incl 820), 900, and MST. I've done it on them all.

| Copying this info to the Tech forum. I was looking there but had not found anything. I can also confirm the same fitting works in an MST 206 drain plug hole as well. Your suggestion to me long ago. | |

| FYI I’ve never worked one of these transmissions but if I had to make an educated guess I’d say the hole in the transaxle is roughly 7/16. Take a look at this chart. | |

| You don't even have to cut those last 3 threads off. When I did it to my 820, I just added a like 1/4" think washer, and instead of using teflon tape, I put an O ring on it. Works great. I also instead used one of the compression type fittings(I think that's what you call it, you push the hose onto the thing and then tighten the nut over it). That style fitting is more low profile and less likely to come apart if you get some tree wrapped up under there, yanking on the hose. | |

Pipe fittimgs are tapered. The further you screw them in, the better the fit. That's why I cut them instead of spacing them out. Got a pic of the fitting you're referring to?

| Adding to this, has anyone tried to run their vent to their air intake on the engine like a PCV valve, or am I going to be the first?
I just don’t feel comfortable venting it and leaving it open there under my seat. Going to the intake would make the best sealed system I can think of

I just don’t feel comfortable venting it and leaving it open there under my seat. Going to the intake would make the best sealed system I can think of Cars do that on the crank case vent inlet for the pcv system, but the system has an in and an out so air can move through it. You have the right thinking though, venting to the intake system, the fumes would get sucked into the intake and get burned which would not pollute, well, as bad as just venting to the atmosphere. The EPA would give you a gold star CQ for doing it that way, . On doing it, the place you want to hook it up to on the intake system would be just after the filter and before the carburetor inlet. Separate from the valve cover vent so the pulsing of the engine doesn't do anything to the transaxle like cross contamination, most unlikely but possible. And after the carburetor filter so no oil clogs the filter up. The atmosphere between the carb filter and carb inlet will be a vacuum with the airflow direction going into the carb. The carb might get a little more oily but that will be OK since it will help lube the butterfly shafts and prolong the life of the carb.

| I was thinking right on the elbow where it turns into the carb. I have the version with the plastic intake, carb, then plastic 90* that doubles as the airbox.
Lol the EPA gold star, it’s mainly to keep junk out of the trans rather than the atmosphere, but cleaner is cleaner haha.
