I think you should get the cheap execs like RockyDA. What are you planning for the electrical system?

The cheap execs aren't for sale anymore.

I want to get a starter generator, then have electric start and a charging system.  Then I want a winch, rear linear actuated sleeve hitch, lights, horn, voltmeter, tethered kill switch, hour meter, tac, amp meter, USB charger, and whatever else I think of.  Make the dash look like a space shuttle or something, LOL.

Ordering real tires later today.

Neat. Do you have any plans for front tires as well? Some narrow 21" knobbies would probably look great on 'er.

The first ride is usually the most exciting one.  I saw the youtube video.  The motor and drivetrained seemed to be working well.

Probably the ags from the front of Sodzilla for a while, but ultimately tri-ribs.

It was very exciting.  Thanks!  They are, it doesn't even stall out in 4th.

Thanks!  Yeah, it does.

Nice Progress!!!

Thanks!

Small update, ordered tires.  Went with 23s because of price, the next cheapest was $70 for the tire and $30 shipping.  23s still aren't small tires, just not giant for a garden tractor.

Got the exhaust fabbed up.  Need a couple more pipe connectors before it's "done", but I have the general idea layed out.

And here's the "First Drive" video various people are mentioning.

My dad has those tires on his C-105. They work pretty well all around. You’ll like them.

New tyres looks nice, should do well on the JD. I think it'll look great with those on the rear and the Tri-ribs on the front.

I read "fabbed", but what but what i see is more in phase with "mickey moused".

Looks ok i guess. Would have been slightly less boring with a diesel

Thanks!  Not done just yet, need a couple more extensions but it's close.

Thanks, yeah they should do well.  So do I, that's the idea.  Kinda an old tractor look, just in a mini form.

Was that supposed to be anywhere near reasonably productive or just aimed to piss me off?

looks good but I wouldnt use threaded pipe for exhaust, especially that many fittings, each one kills flow and you have a bunch.

That small a motor and that large a pipe?  I don't think it will kill it that bad.  But I will say the heat and cool will cause the joints to loosen and you will find all those bends going the wrong way.  LOL

Eh, I've done this on several tractors and it did fine.  Plus, I have no welder.

Yeah, that was happening.  I typically secure it with baling wire.

So a lot of work has been done to this thing since the last update.  She is now reliably driveable!

Got the tires on Thursday, had them professionally mounted since the old ones had been on for probably about 30 years.

john - [Complete] John Deere 110 "Sub-Compact Tractor" Build [2018 Build-Off Entry] - Page 14 20180921

john - [Complete] John Deere 110 "Sub-Compact Tractor" Build [2018 Build-Off Entry] - Page 14 20180922

Painted the rims with the old tires on, then I bolted the tires on and went for an uncomfortable test drive to check a trap on our land.

john - [Complete] John Deere 110 "Sub-Compact Tractor" Build [2018 Build-Off Entry] - Page 14 20180923

Then I put the fenders on, still need paint.

john - [Complete] John Deere 110 "Sub-Compact Tractor" Build [2018 Build-Off Entry] - Page 14 20180924

Then the first thing I did was go get it stuck in the creek.

john - [Complete] John Deere 110 "Sub-Compact Tractor" Build [2018 Build-Off Entry] - Page 14 20180925

john - [Complete] John Deere 110 "Sub-Compact Tractor" Build [2018 Build-Off Entry] - Page 14 20180926

It did get itself out by itself after about 5 minutes of rocking it.

Then I did what I've been wanting to try for as long as I've had this: test how much torque it actually has.

john - [Complete] John Deere 110 "Sub-Compact Tractor" Build [2018 Build-Off Entry] - Page 14 20180927

As you can see in the video, I need a weight box badly.  They are about $150 on Ebay, so I'm not doing that lol.  Will have to figure something out.  I also could use some rear wheel weights.  We'll see what I come up with.

john - [Complete] John Deere 110 "Sub-Compact Tractor" Build [2018 Build-Off Entry] - Page 14 20180928

Spent the rest of the morning mucking out the pen and the barn, the thing took it like a champ.  Plenty of torque and power.

As far as speed goes, it goes 8 mph when I hit the gov.  I need to re-route the throttle cable because it only has about 1/2 throttle.

Then I need to paint the front rims, the fenders, finish bolting the seat on, do a few more odds and ends, and phase 1 will be done.  I'm very, very happy with this tractor.  Can't wait to do more work with it.

Phase 2 will consist of an alternator or starter generator, electrical system,  gauges (tac, amp meter, hr meter), lights, linear-actuated sleeve-hitch, horn, and USB charger.  Need to get some more money together before I start in on that, but it shouldn't be too long.

Just bolt a couple of those K181's to the front of 'er for weight.  lol! Really though I wouldn't use that homemade drawbar for that kinda stuff. Way too high up and that's most likely why it's tipping back.

Looking good though! The Ags really give it a nice look for sure. Sounded like some serious belt slippage though, what's up with that?

Yeah, I don't plan to, but I don't have anything else to hook the chain to right now.  It's also way, way off center.

Was always planning of cutting it off, but never quite got around to it yet.

I don't know what you mean, the belt doesn't slip?  No smoke, doesn't surge or anything, still has all the kevlar on it.

I was talking about all the squealing in the video when you were pulling that tree. Was that something else?

It looked like you were using the homemade upper drawbar on the video.

The ags look great! Rear wheel weights could be found for cheap and so can weights from a weight lifting setup.

Yeah, that's something else.  I'm not sure exactly what, it happens when the clutch is engaged for more than about 30 seconds.  Guessing and idler pulley is rubbing on something or something along those lines.  It'll wear away, lol.

Use the lower hitch point when pulling. It will help keep your tires on the ground maybe.

WOW, Hadn't expected that! Do it like he pre owner of my MUD MURRAY 4X4 did. Make a front weight from concrete! Heavy as john - [Complete] John Deere 110 "Sub-Compact Tractor" Build [2018 Build-Off Entry] - Page 14 252588580  and small.

I might do that, we'll see.

Yeah, that's the plan, but as I stated above, the chain hook won't fit in the bottom hole.
