Ended up getting the master link to work, much easier to take apart too haha.

I paid attention to the rotation of the chain and put the clip on so if anything were to rub against it, it would push it on rather than off if that makes sense. Still has clearance though so that’s all good. Transaxle is assembled, just waiting for the rtv to dry some so I can put it in. Added a brass nipple to that threaded hole with that little yellow plug by the shifter. Direct fit.

Minor setback with my tow rig (the ranger). Fuel pump went out this morning so I’m going to have to get that sorted, CQ needs finished, AND I still have to practice because my bum arse made state lol. This week is going to be utter chaos

Also, Friday was my last day of school, and work. I put my two weeks in awhile ago to go work with a friend. I don’t start that till the 17th. So aside from two hours a day for practice, the other 22 hours of every day will be devoted to haspin prep haha

Got the transaxle mounted and hubs put about where I want them. Going to track slightly narrower in the back but we saw that coming. Fenders are also mocked up where I want them. Had to add a little angle iron to the back of the frame to support where the seat springs will go. Fenders moved back about 2 inches in total

Congrats on making state, man!
I doubt we will have more than a day or 2 off of Haspin prep before we head out... Wow is it getting close!

Lots of progress getting done. Got the hubs welded to the axles where I want them, frame extension for the fenders is made, taught my buddy how to weld and had him do those for practice. Currently cutting out the square stock I will be using for the shock mounts on the front.

I also got a couple fuel tanks from my stockpile and I might be able to make two of them work to run dual tanks. We’ll see if I have the space but since I have a fuel pump I don’t see why not. I have enough fuel shutoffs too to where the two tanks can be used totally independently of each other. That way one tank can be completely empty for storage and still have gas in one to move it around. If I know I’m going on a big romp (haspin) I’ll fill both tanks and have an extended range

No jackstands!!

I bounced my own weight on the front of the chassis. Not completely welded up yet but I’m about 165 pounds and it had some decent travel. I think this spring rate is about perfect. Just wish the shocks dampened more. I’m afraid the front end will handle like a pogo stick at speed

Also, fuel pump on the ranger is replaced, so it’s back up and running and ready to rip for haspin

Awesome, looks great CQ!!

Have you set the engine on it to see if it will settle down to a final ride height?

No, but the shocks are on their lowest preload setting so I can easily bring the nose up. That’s what I like about these is they have a little collar on the shaft body that lets you set the desired preload height. But they don’t dampen very well. Bit of a tradeoff there but we will see how it goes

Little test of the strength and stiffness of the suspension. Seems about right. Sorry about the audio. My phone is wigging out today.

Also, the starter just barely hits so I have to move the engine over about a centimeter. That much shift in the weight shouldn’t make any difference.

Currently working on the belt system. Thinking a 6 inch front (deck pulley) with a 5 inch rear for a slight overdrive in conjunction with the final drive. I may overdrive it more in the future depending on how it performs at haspin

Belt system is done. 6 inch engine, 5 inch transaxle, stock clutch, 107 inch 1/2 belt. Longest one sold at TSC, but Napa also has them in stock so while it’s long, they’re still available. Might run by Napa and grab the one they have just so I have a spare

How much are your belts normally? If I go to Car Quest I can get one around $10-$15.

This one was 23 at TSC. Napa is the same.

Normally the 86 inch belt I get at TSC for the original CQ is 19. Still is but it’s cheaper since it’s shorter.

Update video is uploading, I’ll post it here once it’s done. Lots is getting done, I want to say it’s close but then I make a big laundry list in my head and change my mind haha. I’m glad the belt system is done though. Honestly it was pretty easy compared to the others I’ve built, but I’m building the steering around the belt so I’m sure that had something to do with it haha

Also, the ranger is dead again....so some of my day tomorrow is already set aside for that, hoping to get started on steering once the ranger is running. Then I have to get cleaned up for graduation. Pretty much all of Friday is shot for the state meet so the next full day I’ll be able to commit to this thing is Saturday. Some all nighters may be necessary.....
