Oh, I could use it. It seals well, but would wobble awfully bad. Don't need it anyway. Got the other rims anyway. You may make out the warped rim in the pic.

Sorta A revive of a project that has sat for months without even a sniff about it. Thanks to xxXMowerDudeXxx, I got a new peerless trans for butch. I think it's a 901. Correct me if I'm wrong. It's got 3/4" axles. Will hopefully slip onto the front burner soon, as I'm gonna really need Butch for farm chores. As of now, still waiting. Will need to make hubs for the rear wheels.

Awesome. Thanks for the correction Andy. The spicer Started slipping real bad. Bent shifting dogs were the culprit i believe. So i donated it to my Bro's Pedal car build. I bought the Peerless from MD to replace it. Got Butch into the garage and ready to start. I found a stick of Key way material laying around, so that problem is solved. The last hurdle to jump is the fabrication of new rear spindles. Once those are made, it's all go from there. I've got two ATVs worth of parts so I may put the 4 link suspension on the front and do direct steering. who knows. Stay tuned, Will get it done somehow.

Got her back together and greasier than a greased pig! Had a hell of a time getting the axles to sit in the case right. Took several tries to get it to work. Don't know what I did to get it to work but I don't really care right now. It's together and I can actually turn the thing. Had a bright idea to test it under high RPM without getting the oppey running. Took the drive belt and linked the tranny ,sitting on a cooler, to the cone pulley of the drill press. Was able to test it in all gears to ensure it worked. All is good so far. PS, Butch is finally out of the hay shed!  Laughing

HAHA. Thanks. Twas a Fleeting idea that popped into my head. I'd say 1750 RPM, that's about half throttle on the Oppey.

Naw. New it was my own doing there. The spicer was just as bad at putting everything back the right way. LOL. No. The old grease was usable and seemed clean. I really don't want to get that greasy, especially with milking equipment in the sink, so I opted to leave it this time. I really should collect the dirt on the trans and keep it as a souvenir.  lol!

Oh wow. Yeah, not a good idea. I'm finding the taller shifting shaft will get in the way of the belt. I'll be redoing the pulleys anyway.

As always, no problem. It's what these build threads are here for. So, a much needed update WITH PICS!!!!!!!!! some reveiw first. Thanks to MowerDude, I was able to get a peerless 930 in the tractor to replace the spicer 4360 that I gave my bro for his pedal car build. That was about as far as butch got till, I broke down and bought some new ag tires with rims for the rear. After some mods to the Trans, which included shortening the extended shift shaft, I threw it in and went for a test run. Super nice trans(good reps for you MD). After the test, I took the trans off and apart to fix the shift ball wish had fallen out. This is where it got sticky....Literally. The stupid idiot I was, I took the top half of the case off, Right over top the bottom half. I ended up dumping dirt and sand all over everything. So...., back to the grind stone I went and soaked and brushed every gear and axle in solvent. After everything was clean, I ended up shoving 3 tubes of grease into the sucker. This involved taking the case apart several times. This is where that drill press trick came in super handy. I had to spin the trans several times to distribute the grease around. After bench testing it on the drill press, Back in the tractor it went and all was well, that is, till I noticed a rather annoying problem starring a hole in my face. The drive belt was shot! So, I got a new one(best decision I ever made) and now all is well. Whew!. I use it everyday now. Love how it's running. Put the ATV front wheels back on that I first had on when I modded it for the first time. Kicking around a few wheel choices around for the front. Butch does real well in the mud. Haven't gotten stuck yet. Enjoy the pics.
PS, as of today, I now have more repairs to do. Broken trans bracket and sheared off shift lever. LOL  Laughing
