knocking & where can i also get a engine rebuild kit for a briggs & stratton 21.5hp vtwin?

Ok, so my mower is about 7years old. And i beat up my engines alot. I hit the throttle on my mower the other day and it knocked once and does it every so often when its at idle and i gas it. What could it be and where can i also get a engine rebuild kit for a briggs & stratton 21.5hp vtwin

i dont know were to get a rebuild kit but i wish my mower was only 7 years old mine is a 1974 lol

Make sure your motor mount bolts are tight... that can make a sound kind of like an engine knock.

Always check the easy stuff first!

Yea, they ar tight, i hit them with a impact gun

when you over rev a motor alot, the motor can only handle so much - more then likely its rod knock , meaning either the berings on the rod are wearing out or the rod bolts are loose - if you keep running it, itll eventually blow up- could be valve clatter also - hard to tell.

Best places to find a rebuild kit are Ebay and local tractor parts place- i imagine it wont be cheep either - a buddy of mine bot a rod, piston and rings for $50 for his single 12HP.

Personally, id buy all high performance stuff for it so it can handle more abuse- yeah its alot of money, but then itll last longer.

It was a little (not much) low on oil. It does burn oil alot when over rev'ed. I saw some heavy duty engine oil at walmart, should i try it?? i use 10 30. But i mostly wanna just rebuild the topend i guess you can say.

You could be using straight SAE 30 oil in warm climates.

Dump the multi-viscosity and run straight 30w, or go with 40w if the engine is burning oil.

thick oil works i needed rings really bad put some 20w 50 in it and some motor honey doesnt burn a drop
