Craftsman LT1000 Problem

Ok not sure if this is the exact place to be posting a question like this so bare with me a little. The issue that I am having is that I can not get the rear end to move on my LT1000. Does not matter if I push the clutch in or move the control lever mounted on the back of mower in or out I can not get the mower to move. I have not tried to get the thing running yet this year as it has been below freezing for months and the battery is surely dead. I have not had a chance to look into it a whole lot but figured I would see what you guys thought so I had more avenues to look at when I do. One of the things that I was thinking was the brake froze up, or the belt slipped and is stopping the transaxle from moving.

If it has been that cold maybe it froze up, I would pull it out and usually, on the brakes, a 3/4" to 1" head on it, take a wrench to it and see if it'll move.

Does your engine turn over if it doesn't maybe you belt and engine are keeping the transaxle from spinning

And check to make sure your brakes aren't over adjusted when i was adjusting the brakes on my lt1000 i wanted the brakes to work good so i tightened them and i started it up and it didn't move even though i didn't adjust them much so i would check that. And theres a little spring on the brake rod if that spring has some play then it might not be your brakes if that spring is compressed then its more then likely your brakes. then if that doesn't work your trannys prolly frozen. if its cold where you are i would put a tiny heater under it and see if it unfreezes it.

Thanks for the info I will get out there and check when I get the time too. Most likely next weekend, hoping the weather is a little nicer so I can work on both mowers a little. Also the motor tries to crank over however the battery is not charged enough to get it to do anything.

I have the same mower and the peddle wasn't coming all the way up. I tried pushing the peddle in Ian's out and it was still hung up. I rocked it back and forth real hard and then climbed on and pushed the peddle all the way down and then releases it and it freed up. Good luck
