3 link would be 1 link on the bottom of both sides and a wishbone link in the middle..

Front - 4 link Murray front suspension - Page 2 Image53
The only way it would work was to have two links on one side. I know the wishbone style you talk about. I recon its what im considering for the rear.

By any chace do you got more pics that show how you mounted the 4-link? that would be helpfull.
jamcco when are you doing the write up on your 4-link? you write up might be more helpfull since your working on a AYP chassis.

if you click on my signature there's a quick write up on the 4 link at it's current state as part of my thread. i will have some changes made (the rear mounts for the 4 links are going to be made soon) the mower is driveable. i also still need to take some quick pictures of the panhard bar that i made. feel free to ask any questions that you have

about how much overall travel do you have? I really want to do this, when i get my welder, this may be my first project.  i was wondering how you were going to do hood mounts, and i see now. its a shame that ihave like, no room under my hood with the opposed twin to actually do anything.  i have an old atv frame with shock/spring setups on it already. Where did you get the adjustable tierod links? and how much, about of course, did it cost for this whole thing? and, is the swaybar needed? i know it helps, but, im just curious, very limited room here...

Its got about 8 inches of flex but about 5 inches of totel up to bottom out. Tierod ends come from a small chines atv and the shocks. The heim joints are from raceingrodends.com  the links are custom made its all about 100 bucks and i had most the material. Took about two weeks

you need the panhard bar because the front end will move side to side. if you have one it will keep that from happening.

Yea sorry i forgot to finish your question. The panhard is a must have in this type of suspintion. It controled the side to side movement of the front axel in turns without it your steering and links of the suspintion would be stressed more in turns. And the hood mounts to the front bumper now you can see it in my  99 murray build thread. Its also in signiture.

do you think it may be possible to use atv adjustable tie rods? just an idea. i really like the concept a lot, but i dont want to cut up my tractor and have it not work, or not look good. ill think aboutit, and do somedraw outs and see what i get.

Ok. i see it in my head now. once i can get the welder i want, and get some practice, and money, ill definately try it. im just worried because my tractor is the type where the front axle is right in a cut in the frame. that is a big structural spot for my tractor and it might hurt it, but i need to do a front bumper, and i see in my head how i wantthat to look, i will make the whole setup as one. the entire bumper setup will be bolt on, and the whole suspension will be on the bumper setup. My hood is the old kind where it has sides and a front, the actual hood is just the top part, so im not crazy worried about hood mounts. im just worried about looks and the whole thing falling apart. but it should be alright. Thanks for all of your help!!!
