Hey all. I’m a complete newbie to go-karts. My son wanted to build one. I had an old 2.5 hp engine, but then he said what about the engine in grandpa’s old lawn tractor? So I said that sounded good. Did some searching about turning a lawn tractor into a go-kart and ended up here.  I will need a lot of help. I am somewhat mechanical but I do not know how to weld, will have to learn.  I also know nothing about gear ratios, steering mechanisms etc. Like I said I’m new to this and hope I found the right place to be. Thanks in advance for any advice. Very Happy

Welcome and you've definitely found the right forum, everyone has good tips and experience so you should be right up there with everyone else in no time! I only joined a lil more than a year ago and I have learned so much about engines, transaxles, ratios, ect.!

Thanks all. For you Jurzeeites, I'm in the Piney region of South Jersey where there is nothing but swamps and oceans and maybe even Jimmy Hoffa!  Smile It does look like I have found the place I need to be. I'll get the details on the mower I will be re-purposing and post in the appropriate forum. This will be a blast.
