I've been building cars and bikes for over 45 years, but lawn tractors are new to me. I'm disabled now, and am going to build a 6 series MTD into a sort of mobility scooter.

Since I like to know where I'm going, I'll be asking a lot of stoopid questions. My tractor won't be a serious racer, or off roader, but it's got to be fairly fast. Looking for maybe a top end of 40-45 MPH.

Oh..... it's got a 21 horse Vanguard V twin. Now I'm off to ask my first question about transaxles.
