John Deer 400

I found a John Deer 400 for sale for only $450. Is that a good deal? or a good model?

im not trying to be not in favor of john deer. im just warning you ive seen in stores and helping frends join deer uses there own engines and there own parts. there parts tend to be more expense compared to a mtd made mower. they are completely different than a mtd stile mower (ex. on some of there motels the starter solenoid is attached to the starter). though i think there are made buy mtd.

I'm pretty sure only the very recent ones are MTD. I could be wrong though. But with my experience, and the GreenHornet's experience with the Sabre (made by JD), John Deere machines are very complex and not really worth all the hype. And to be honest, mine didnt mow very well when I parked it. I would much rather have a craftsman. Just my opinion, maybe I got a bad one...?
