| New here to ATLTF. Been hanging around with the likes of Stretch44875 and his son for a few years now, experienced the tractors and drove one a few times, enough to get me hooked and wanting one of my own. Going to be following the rally build style. Searching for a project tractor to start out with now, wish me luck and hope to be posting with you guys here often. | |

I'm open to any suggestions. I've been looking on craigslist for some. Where's the best place to find a cheap tractor? | |

| Honestly, just drive around and find one that looks like its been sitting for a few years. Knock on the door and ask about it and they might just give it to you. Ones to look for: Gear drive, non mtd, garden tractors are good since you can find tires easier (12 inch rear wheels, 8 inch front), and like Matt said, Square body craftsman are great. Most craftsman are AYP and use the same chassis. AYP are my favorite.
Lastly, Welcome! | |

| Also, looks for a chain drive transmission, like a peerless 700 or foote as that allows you to do some cool things with rear suspension. | |

| Might be worth it to check out your local scrap yard too. The one around here charges 25 cents a pound. | |

| Update: My sister has an old John Deere mower that she's not using. Not sure of the exact model, but she says it looks pretty old. Hoping to go over soon and check it out and get started. | |
