I was just about finished with Fearless Front's simplified wiring system when I noticed two wires coming out from where the alternator should be. Should I hook the black to ground and the red to the solenoid or is it not meant for charging?

The red is your DC charge wire. Attach it to the battery terminal of the starter relay (solenoid). The black wire is actually an AC lighting circuit. It will give you 3-5A of AC current. Pretty much only good for incandescent lighting, and one of those arrangements where the slower your engine is spinning (like idle) the dimmer the lights. If you do not intend to use it, you can just leave it capped off.
