@Dr Bob  A very PIC intensive post.

I busted out the MST206 I had and aligned it up on Red with the 820 for more "accurate" measurements.

Li'l Red 3.0? Growing up to be Red. - Page 8 Img_2618

The shift rod is in the exact same location on both...

Li'l Red 3.0? Growing up to be Red. - Page 8 Img_2619

As I mentioned earlier, the 820 had a much longer input shaft.

The 206 had a height around 3 5/8 inches.

Li'l Red 3.0? Growing up to be Red. - Page 8 Img_2620

The 820 I have came in at about 5 7/8 inches.

Li'l Red 3.0? Growing up to be Red. - Page 8 Img_2621

I also did a pulley height.  Also, as I had expected.  From the frame mount to the top of the input pulley on my 820 is taller than the MST.

MST frame mount to top of pulley came in just over 4.5 inches.

Li'l Red 3.0? Growing up to be Red. - Page 8 Img_2622

You can't see the pulley, but... 820 frame mount top of pulley came in about 5 1/16 inches.

Li'l Red 3.0? Growing up to be Red. - Page 8 Img_2623

This was good for me, now I know I need about a half inch lift in the rear.  Time to take the time and get things right.

Frame raised on the transaxle a hair over 1/2 inch higher than it was.  820 input pulley appears to be in much better alignment now for the belt.  Also, a bonus to the 7 inch larger engine pulley, the belt now easily clears the steering bolts.

Li'l Red 3.0? Growing up to be Red. - Page 8 Img_2625

Still need to remove the rear tires and drill out the new front mount bolts.

Aha! Caught and fixed an allignment issue while going above and beyond to answer a question, cool. Thanx so much for the side-by-side (over-under) comparison. I acquired an 820 and already have the widebody but have yet to compare transaxles side-by-side. This confirmed my suspicions about input pulley height. Now I just have to tackle the shift shaft. Mine is from a Craftsman GT and has a short shift shaft that's a nub that sticks out just outside the case.

Looks like that 7" front pulley gives you plenty of clearance from the steering bolts. While exploring a 5" option, I strongly considered filing the mounting holes square in that bottom steering bearing and replacing the bolts with carriage bolts for their smooth head.

Few little things today.  My metal replacement pulley was the right size at the lip of the pulley, but the belt surface was the wrong diameter so it would not work in the clutch arm.  I did have another, which I have on the clutch arm, but the seal is busted.  I have a replacement on order.  Should be here Thursday.  Once that is on, I should be able to but the rear fenders back on.

Wiring for the rear lights, battery cable and my new vent line is installed.

Li'l Red 3.0? Growing up to be Red. - Page 8 Img_2627

One of my older exhaust pipes with the muffler is installed.

Li'l Red 3.0? Growing up to be Red. - Page 8 Img_2628

Transaxle is now realigned and bolted up.  You can see my 1/2 inch worth of shims in the rear mount.  I could have done nuts or something, but I wanted something a little more structural.  Don't want any undue stresses.

Li'l Red 3.0? Growing up to be Red. - Page 8 Img_2626

Couple more shots of the exhaust.

Li'l Red 3.0? Growing up to be Red. - Page 8 Img_2631

Li'l Red 3.0? Growing up to be Red. - Page 8 Img_2630

My plugs for my rear lights, yellow plug is ground, blue is brakes, and the red is my normal tail lights.

Li'l Red 3.0? Growing up to be Red. - Page 8 Img_2629

I'm probably going to sit on it a day until my pulley comes in for the clutch arm.  I will likely reuse 75% or more of the existing wiring.  I actually did a decent job last time running it.

I think you should enlarge that ‘lift plate’ to include the outer set of holes in the axle housing and add a gusset between the bolts.

I've thought about that several times.  I'll continue to think about it.  Li'l Red 3.0? Growing up to be Red. - Page 8 1f604

Got board waiting for my pulley and did a little engine dressing.

Progress is being made!  Got my pulley today so the rear fenders and reconnecting the wiring has begun!  I got a few things under the dash left to do, so my switches are just dangling at the moment.

Got 'er fired up today to check if the belt would work.  I'm going to need a slightly bigger belt in length.  the 96 is a bit too short. I'm thinking a 97 is in order.  Even with the clutch in, the belt is still turning.  I kind of figured as the clutch pedal was not coming all the way back.

2 options... put the 6 inch pulley back on or buy a new belt...

I'm thinking put the 6 inch back on. (31mph is fast enough)  It's at least $20 (plus tax) cheaper.  HAHA...

I'm working on cleaning out another part of the building.  When I am done, I may put the other pulley back on and reconnect the steering.

Works well with rack and pinion and ball bearing hubs.  No death wobble for me.

Dash is reinstalled.

Installed the USB charger from Kal onto Red.

Li'l Red 3.0? Growing up to be Red. - Page 8 Img_2716

I have the winch kill installed next to my manual winch override.  I have labels made for these, just not installed yet.

Li'l Red 3.0? Growing up to be Red. - Page 8 Img_2717

I have not reinstalled, the 6 inch pulley yet.  After cleaning the 2nd 3rd of the building, I was pretty sore and tired.  Did get a little done with Grandpa.  More on that in his thread.

The right 3rd is cleaned up.  All that is missing is my daily mower and grandpa.  They will go on the right wall.

Got the foot throttle installed and the hood is reinstalled.  Now I just need to reinstall the old pulley, relocate some guides and  reconnect the steering.

So, this tractor's battery is about toast an it is only 5 months old.  Still going dead while sitting a couple days even with the winch disconnected.  I got it from TSC.  Last battery I got from TSC did the same thing.  Lasted about 6 month and kaput.  I have Walmart batteries that are 5-6 YEARS old that still work.  Ugh....

All right!  I think I got it done for now!  Red is back together and in one piece again!  I'll see if I can get it out tomorrow for a test run!

When you can't get on the ground and work on the underneath, you get creative!  New belt installed, ended up with a .5x94".  The 5/8x96 was too short and actually didn't fit the pulleys well after all.  I may have to redo one guide, but that's no big deal.  I did find the oil leak.  It's the typical valve cover leak on an oppy.

Well, it seems I have toasted another HF 2500 winch controller.  Don't make these things try to pull too hard, those controllers will just burn up.  Not sure why I have such bad luck with these things.  Now that they are $85.  I just don't see myself getting another.  Should have seen it coming when it started to drain my battery over time.  Winch itself seems fine.  I'll look into just a manual switch.
