Briggs and Stratton 11hp Syncro-Balanced (flathead) - Pullstart? Empty
PostSubject: Briggs and Stratton 11hp Syncro-Balanced (flathead) - Pullstart?   Briggs and Stratton 11hp Syncro-Balanced (flathead) - Pullstart? Icon_minitimeJanuary 30th 2023, 8:56 am

Hello,
I have a Murray 11/36 with a 11hp Briggs and Stratton Motor. I got the motor Running this month - wich was hard because there was no E starter on the motor. I took a rope and wrapped it around the Pulley of the motor and pulled on it. After i Pulled on it a few times and adjusted the Carburator the motor finaly started up. Because it is really annoying and hard to to wrap the rope around the pulley everytime i want to start it i need a real starter. So my question now is: Is there a Pull starter for the 11hp Briggs and Stratton syncro balanced engine? I have seen videos of the 10 hp version having a pull start but i cant find it anywhere on google. Does anybody maybe have the model number for the Pull starter so i can buy it? (The motor is not an I/C version)
Thanks for your tipps!

Briggs and Stratton 11hp Syncro-Balanced (flathead) - Pullstart? Empty

Look on the motor for the model/type/code. One of us should be able to go from there to help.

Typically, on the fan shroud by the head, but you mentioned it was not an I/C. If overhead valve it is on the valve cover. I'm guessing a flathead so it should be near the spark plug.

If it has provisions for the electric start (gear on flywheel, etc) It may be cheaper to get an aftermarket starter than the kit to make it pull start. Shoot us a picture or two of the engine. It will help too. Picture of the top and of the model/type/code would be a great start.

Briggs and Stratton part numbers 693600 or 390391

https://www.ebay.ca/itm/292911550453

If the link doesn't work for some reason just type the 390391 part number in and you'll find it, it's the full complete kit

Np at all! It's actually doubled in price since I got it a year and a bit ago which is ridiculous to me! I've kept my eyes open while in the salvage yard but have yet to find anything with one like it and I could really use another...

Same here, in the US they could probably get it for $35-40, it cost me about $45 but now would be closer to $70. Unreal isn't it?!

@Brianator
Oh yes, sadly. Here the starter kit is about 80 - 135€....
But the Germans think that everything is worth more than its actually worth.
A used lawntractror with NO engine and NO mowing deck costs about 200€ on eBay classifieds here.
Just sad to see the prices rise up so high. I payed 100€ for my Murray 11/36 because i was lucky and knew the seller from school.

That may not be for much longer. I've seen many items double, triple and quadruple just in the past 3-6 months!
