Well Here is my new to me (and free!) Allis Chalmers B-8 I don't know the year. I think somewhere around 1967? Going off the grill and lack of lights. I got this tractor for free from a good buddy after helping him put a clutch in his 1991 Ford F150 (Borg Warner T-18's are heavy lol.) Before my friend gave it to me he messed with it but he got it at an auction with a B-11 and he decided he would rather have the B-11 so I got the B-8. When he messed with it he got it to pop and try and run but that's it. She's got what I assume to be the original (going off how grimy she is.) 8HP Brigs Flathead. I attempted to clean the carb but with my manly powers of destruction snapped of the main jet. So she's got a new carb coming that had real good reviews for only 19 bucks! The only thing on it to worry about is the steering is locked up hardcore. I found the point of concern though and have it soaking with PB Blaster as we speak. It appears to be the main gear on the end of the steering shaft. There seems to be a bearing on the end that must have just gotten stuck. In theory should be that hard but we all know how that goes. The trans and PTO side of things works well as it is. A little bit of adjusting and we should be good. I tested the deck and with the PTO engaged the deck spins good with the engine so hooray! I honestly just want to get this thing mowing and have a sweet lawn mower for how every long I keep it! If anyone know something I should please let me know!

I’ve found with steering stuff, old grease will sometimes turn to solid glue and really seize stuff up. Some heat really helps loosen things up in that case. The john deere swept axle i put in the 414 was super seized when i got it, once i wrestled the spindles out and cleaned the grease out the dang thing was just about loose lol.
Yea I am sure hoping I don't have to pull the steering gear out. That sounds like a pain. One thing I didn't mention is that since its missing the sift knob I found out the a Hurst Super-Matic ratchet shifter knob has the same thread patter. lol My ratchet shifter isn't in a vehicle so Alice can have that knob for now lol.
Small Update I think I found what this thing is. https://www.tractordata.com/lawn-tractors/000/1/2/127-allis-chalmers-b-1.html This has the same grill and no head lights and it is designated as a B-1. So far the only old Allis with an 8 HP engine so I think Alice is a B-1. I'll have to check on the tractor as well but the stickers are pretty worn.

Alright got some work done. I tore the dash out as to remove the steering shaft so I could fit the stuck bushing on the bench. I am very glad that I pulled all that out as I found a mouse emporium in there! I found a intact skull even. Stunk so bad. Here is the stuck bushing in question. With the help of a hydraulic press we got them apart! With some wire brush action ad a small hone this should be back together and working soon! I would show but its not uploading that photo right now so yea. Sorry bout that guys
One thing I thought about that I should do while the console is out I should pull the Flywheel shroud off to clean any mouse house that may be in there and clean the coil and magnet and re-gap the coil while I am in there. Probably a lot easier with the console off to do that.
Alright! I got the console back in and everything de-rusted and we have steering! I forgot to take a pic tho
I got the new carb on and after watching a video on a really cool GT He showed how his throttle plate was backwards for how his throttle worked and he showed how to swap it. I thought to myself " Huh, what's the chances mines like that" as he was using a clone updraft carb also, welp it was! Good thing I saw that video! So swapped the blade around and installed carb and I got it to pop! Almost fell off my chair as I forgot no muffler and me head was very close lol! Not running yet but closer!
She back together and she drives! I found the problem to be not enough fuel was making it to the carburetor. I tore into and cleaned the glass sediment pull and replace O-Rings and tore the old filter screen out hoping to be able to reuse it but to no avail. So I went to the hard ware store a grabbed a single 1/8x1/4 barbed fitting (Stupid Expensive fyi) and I converted it to an inline shut-off and filter. Run's great now! Also Changed the engine oil and trans oil. Both look good no water/metal just old and black. I could not get the drain of the RAGB tho so that will have to be change later. A small shot of the rebuilt fuel system. Kinda dark tho sorry bout that. Here is a cool pic of Alice chilling the the Geo. Of course I had to do the obligatory off-road test. It did pretty well for first test drive in years lol!

Alright got a few small things done to Alice today. Simple stuff like fixing the OG Kill toggle and mounting the airbox. As you can see the filter I ordered for this thing was taller than the factory one but with a longer chunk of 1/4x20 all thread she fit on and seals so I am as happy as I can be on that side of things. Just barely clears the hood too. Would look better if it was the original size but oh well. Also recorded a cold start of the ol girl this morning. Went pretty good. Smoked pretty good off camera but with a smidge of throttle it cleared and never came back.
Next on the list is greasing the whole mowchine, fixing the clutch as it doesnt disengage all the way, changing the RAGB oil and then servicing and mounting the deck. Oh yea a muffler. That's high on the list. Then just some runtime to burn some stuff stuck around the engine as this thing smells purdy bad when hot lol.
Here is a little size comparison to Putt-Putt thought it was pretty funny lol Note that Putt Putt is on about 3 inch larger then factory tires. Quite the difference tho. Also me and my friend went and did a little bit of crawling. She is a pretty capable rig. Parts of me wonder if this tractor has a limited slip of sorts? Not sure but it does quite well with slipping in that regard.
More work done! Mostly Full greasing and a muffler! Take a listen to this.
Last thing to grease is left front wheel bearings. That's right. Dual cone wheel bearings. So that cool. Couldn't get both done as I ran out of time due to some very stuck dust caps. But the right one is very full of grease now!
