How I modified my chainsaw scabbards.
I did this mostly because I lower and pull up my chainsaws from my rear porch deck to save energy and time. It used to take me 4-6 trips on the stairs to get all my stuff out and then six trips again when finished, usually in the dark. Besides beating my self up before I even started work, it was a safety thing carrying 24 pound chainsaws with 32" bars up and down the stairs.
So, I usually have 4-6 ropes to lower stuff from the railing, and use quick click carabiners to attach the ropes to saws, tool boxes, peavys, etc.
Plus the safety risk of walking up and down 14 stairs with one full arm and another holding the rail is avoided. Then worse, walking up with stuff when tired.
The HF gas saw, Atlas 80v chainsaw, and 80v pole saw bars already had holes, probably in case they had to add safety shields since it is a universal bar just painted with HF logos and text.
Since I use 1/4" hitch pins a lot and stock them, I drilled the bars out to 1/4" then measured carefully and drilled the scabbards. Now the scabbards stay on up and down, over the porch railing. Plus, they do not fall off while carrying them and while jostling around in the trailer.
