Can you fit a 10" wide tire on a 4" wide rim?

I have a set of 25x10/12 atv tires and can only find trailer rims with the 4x4 pattern I need for a project. Problem is the trailer rims are only 4" wide. I know it will physically mount, but will a 10" wide tire on a 4" wide rim make the tread so squished that it gets less traction?

my four wheeler has 8 inch wide rear rims and the tires aree 12.5 wide and its fine, but i have a feeling squishing the tires in 6 inches will be too much but its still worth a shot because the tires may still work fine

I would try to get them to fit, but I would put tubes in them.

You may just have a really hard time getting them mounted. I know my tires were wider than my rim size and it was a pain

I have stretched tires but never squished them in, especially 6 inches. I think you will have major balance issues.

might have issues with them folding over while turning i think i would mod some rims that was closer to the 10" to the 4 lug you need

Thats kind of what I was thinking.

Youll be able to fold the bead in no problem, but you gotta remember the tread is firmer than the sidewalls.

It might be able to be done it will be alittle diffacult.

The trailer rims can be widened, split the rim in the center leaving the center with the bolt holes on the back part (spindle side) wrap the center with flat steel the width you need and weld it back together. You will need to run tubes unless the welds are solid and airtight. We used to do this on old VW beetle 15" rims to put offroad tires on them for racing.
