Looks great! Extending the lever shouldnt be too hard, but I would use some thicker round stock from the bottom up to correct any flex.

its already done lo i took and welded a piece or 3/16" flat steel to it and the took a a piece of 1/2"x1/2" sq. tubing and welded ball joints on the end, it turned out nice, i was going to work on the shaft extension today, but i ran out of wire. ima get some more tomorrow tho and ima try to go on and hook the motor up this afternoon, all in all this was actually an easy build, just alot of measuring and fabricating and guess work bounce

I would leave it governed, it's too easy to over rev when playing. I haven't personally seen come apart, but it can happen.

Note: These are my thoughts, and I am in no way trying to start a governor holy war.

If you're worried about over-revving, a rev limiter is a way better solution than relying on a governor. The governor can and will cause unexpected behavior when offroading. The governor's job is to keep the engine running at the RPMs requested, its job is to keep the engine from over OR under revving. If you bog the engine a little while climbing any kind of slope, the governor will pour on the gas to try to compensate (think when you bog your mower down by hitting a thick patch of grass) and you will do an ill timed wheelie. This is especially important for those driving lifted tractors like this one.

If you are concerned with RPMs grenading your engine, get a rev limiter.

I'd go with a billet flywheel, I've had an engine surge with a removed governor while I was in the shop. around 3 seconds after I hear a loud crack, a shard of flywheel is laying next to me, shot through a 1" thick wall. not to mention leveling the starter and the magneto.

Reinforce your hood compartment with some 3/16 thick steel and never have the hood off when it runs, lol.

Why not?

The heavy steel acts as a shield

Same reason I put some 3/16" plate between my nuts and the piston on my engine.
