I've got a foote transmission from a craftsman that I'm using on my current build and the shifter is very difficult to move is there anyway I can fix this? My neighbors Murray is the same way except he has a 5 speed

I would crack the case open and see if the shift fork is gummed up with crud or rust. Assuming it is, a good soak in diesel or PB blaster will help a ton. Clean everything up and regrease. Check your bushings around the shifter for the same. Whenever I get a rider with a stuck shifter as you describe it, that's the problem 9 times out of 10. Might be, although less likely something broken and jammed up against the shift fork or pin.

I have 6 speed trans that is the same way. It came out of the SS Craftsman. I have thought about pulling it apart some day to figure out the problem, just in case i want to use it on another build.
