| went for a romp yesterday. was giving it hell for about 10 mins, then it started backfiring, and surging when i didnt have any strain on the engine. it promptly died. took the bowl off, and there was some water, some rust and a fair bit of dirt in it. cleaned it, primed the system, and (about 50 pulls later) it started, died and did that like 5 times, each time, i had to squirt some gas into the carb. it eventually filled the bowl, and ran. still surging, and wouldnt idle for sh!t. turned in the low screw a bit until it would idle halfway decent, then put it to WOT and opened up the high screw until it coughed and smoked black, then back in a half turn. runs like a top now. fires right up, no coughing, i let it idle for about 20 mins while i brought groceries in and had lunch, went back out and it wasnt skipping a beat. belt is getting pretty floppy so i ordered 2 kevlar belts last night, from northern tool.
im also gathering a parts list for a new exhaust. so far, heres what ive planned
muffler, 90* input/output, pointed straight up. step the 1-1/4 inch output to 1-1/2 or 1-3/4 bring it straight up for about a foot. rain cap? -OR- cut a 90* in half and make a sick ass angle, off to the side?
the muffler is about 25 bucks on ebay, and the pipe will be under 20 bucks. so were looking at about 50 for this. what do yall think?

| swiped a sawzall today, sliced up some of the tarp allowing me access to the snow, which i shoveled off and into the "parking lot" where it was snowblown into the yard. i was able to cut a big section of frame out, and it freed up my tractor *YAY!!!* yall know i had to start it and take her for a quick rip-snot. everything went well. maybe i'll try for the ATV later in the week. i just wanted my baby out of there. the only damage to her is a bent in fender, but im only going to have to bend them again when i get tires | |

| well, not much has happened since the last update. i got some marvel mystery oil, treated both the oil AND gas. havent ran it yet, but its there when im ready. i also have to replace the fuel petcock, both actually. along with a fair chunk of fuel line. the 2nd petcock broke, and i tried closing the one on the tank, and that wouldnt close, so i pissed out almost half a tank onto the ground before i could get a can... too cold to do anything. might order a muffler this week, and get the new stack built up. i need suggestions on this one. on my stack- do i- A) put a rain flapper on B)cut it straight across C)cut it at a slant or D) put a 45 degree angle on the end... let me know what yalls vote is | |
