this is kind of a crazy Idea but i was thinking about getting a 4 cylinder motor like from a Honda Civic or something and then getting a small go kart frame welded up and bolting the motor on then from the motor running three heavy duty belts to a jack shaft with a lawn mower style clutch on the belts and then from the jack shaft running three chains to a live axle which i need to find one strong enough as well as the jack shaft. then ill put my gas pedal and have the clutch set up so half way in is clutch and all the way is clutch and brake. for the brakes Im thinking disc brakes on all four wheels. im also thinking about 4 or five inches of ground clearance so i can run 6 inch slicks on the road and 18 inch AT's on the dirt and mud. tell me what you think and any ideas you might have. Also this is a budget build.

There used to be an outfit that would take a FWD Honda engine and mount it so the transaxle CV shafts were point 1 to the front and 1 to the rear. They then rigged up a front and rear end with a diff to run off of the two CV's (which were basically drive shafts). They put it in a tube chassis and it was no bigger than a rhino side by side.
These things had huge suspension travel and could go almost anywhere.
