1986 Agway engine troubles Empty
PostSubject: 1986 Agway engine troubles   1986 Agway engine troubles Icon_minitimeFri 21 Jun 2013, 7:54 pm

I bought a 1986 Agway which is nice somewhat, but it leaks out gas from the carb. It has the jet needle inside. I dont know why its leaking, there are no holes for it to leak from.

Also it turns over but slowly on a huge car battery, a normal tractor battery and on the booster. Why does it turn over so slow? I cant even get it to start. I think the starter needs a rebuild, but can someone help me?

check the oil level, it may have gas in it, if the needle valve is stuck open and its pouring down into the engine  soaking past the rings, or going in the breather.

By coming out of the carb, is it a stream or is it squirting out the intake? Does it have a pump?

Starter may be the cause of the slow crank. Could also be the valve gaps.

Also, putting "HELP READ THIS OMG" isnt exactly an appropriate title. And please use more punctuation, you had like 10 sentences all jumbled into one.

Also need more info on your engine. Briggs, Tecumseh, 11hp, 18hp, OHV, Flathead....

Never know, it could be engine swapped. My Rallies engine is from a different tractor.

So if it's OHV, it could easily be a loose rocker arm. You could take it apart and check. I think they're supposed to have .003 gap or something like that.

But I think a more likely solution is fluid locked. Where exactly is the gas leaking from? If it's around the bowl you just need to tighten it. But if there's too much liquid in the combustion chamber, it will increase compression to the point it can't even turn!
