Ole Rusty Red **(UPDATED)**

Starting back up on my 1984 Murray.
This was my first tractor,It had a 12HP Briggs.
It threw a rod about a year ago. Unrebuildable. So now that I have the Vanguard V twin I'm putting my old 17HP single on this ole rusty bastard.
I have to do some work on it,like the tire won't seat on the bead,remount gastank,remount hood,waiting on the base gasket so the motor won't leak oil,just got done putting my old front tires off the Craftsman on it, gotta sort out all the wiring,find the key(it's got one of the key holes that take a certain key,unlike newer models) I might do something like FearlessFront did for his ignition if i don't find the key.(I'm sure im forgetting something)
So i'll be posting some pics of progress. And a first start+drive.

Change of plans!!!
This tractor is getting a Vanguard V Twin!!
I got a free snapper lawn mower with a 16HP Vanguard.
So i'm going to take the motor off the Snapper (it's not a RER) and put it on the Murray. I'm going to take the motor off the murray (the Briggs 17HP single) and put it on the snapper so I can cut grass with it.
So the Murray is going to be a pretty bad ass tow rig/mild offroad tractor.
It's also getting the old tires from my 4 wheeler. There "22 front tires.

A good trick i learned about getting a bead to seal- get some ordinary PVC pipe cement, slather it on the beads and rim and pop the bead using a ratchet strap.

I tried the ratchet strap the other day,didn't work.
Just did it by hand with a freind.
Sure wasn't expecting it to seat,but it did lol.

This tractor has one of them damn rusted on wheels,and i don't have any spare wheels to mount my 20"s on that I used to have on my Craftsman (before the Bear Claws).
Until I find some wheels,I'll be running a stock 25 year old Turf Saver,and a late 90's turf saver.
It's a tiny little mower so it ought to be light and have alot of power,it used to have a 12HP so it should have a good bit with the 17HP Briggs.
Oh yeah it's stuck in first gear too lol. I figured it ought to shift when I get the motor on. Get them gears movin a little.

I love new projects! It'll be good having another tractor to have on hand, for a friend to ride or whatever. Murrays are good for modding, but I will say my craftsman is easier to work on, but I think its because my murray is a step through design, so eveything has to be done from underneath.

However, the murray is unstoppable! I'm sure yours will be too!

Yeah it's been sitting for almost a year now.
Hopefully i can get the damn thing shifting before too long lol.

It's not gonna be as unstopable as the big craftsman,or your murray but it will hopefully be decent offroad =D
