Red, I think your front-end is still a little messed up. I think it's still a little bent. Also it looks like you have some extra caster that could wear down your front tires.

Nothing is bent in the front end other than the grout spindle from the backwards roll over. I just bent it back down but it looks like I didn't bend it down enough. But it hasn't been bending back up so I'm not worried about it.

Yea typical. If they went any smaller, it would probably be pencil spindles.

swap in a axle out of a larger mtd like the pony. It had 5/8 or 3/4.. i forget. but they were pretty sturdy.

I gotta say that is a very creative idea with the winch. I like it a lot.

I could swap it out with a GT murray in the junkyard right now.... 7/8 Spindles. BUT, im cheap.

Well anyways little update. Been seeing this tractor and knew it had a 820 so i nabbed it up last weekend. Paid like $15 for the axle and got whacked $20 because of the tires. if it was just rims i probably wouldn't be whacked with a extra $20 but i cant get them off in the yard. This will be a spare axle.

Taking tires off the old fashion way lol

Tried taking of the pulley with a slide hammer but had a brain fart. forgot the clip on the input shaft isnt that strong. Popped the shaft out on the vice anyways.

Removed rims. One was siezed but took a few min to drive the axle out with a punch and sledge.

Opened it up and looks fairly clean.

I knew it had a shifting problem and found out the shifting fork's spot weld broke.

The indent and shiny dot above it look like they should be on top of each other. No matter, my other 820 is still apart so ill just run a small bead.

Finally got around to switching up the clutch.... It wasnt on the slack side so i just switched it around to the slack side and did some changes

Found out the original clutch was bent slightly...


Plated it and added that spacer so the clutch hung lower and more in line with the belt.


Drilled a hole in the sheet metal frame and welded this spacer so the hole doesnt egg out from the pivot bolt and act as a spacer as well.


Took the linkage off that connects the foot petal to the clutch and found out how worn it is! i got my spare drag link and cut the end off, and now its a rod end, much better and still adjustable.


Modified original linkage and welded the rod end on.


Everything is close but doesnt touch, might touch a little when the belt whips around.


Modified my original spring, if you remember i have a bolt that that tightens it, well i couldnt find all thread so i welded a long bolt to the original bolt (long and ghetto) and that runs back to me original brace with a washer and a nut that draws the spring tight.


Test runs! Works awesome, little foot petal chatter, but it rips. The single spring is a lot easier and more controllable to push.

5th gear drops. Spins.... Woo hoo!

Totally, it would slip on start off amything above 2nd. Grabs in any gear great now

nope lol, hooks right up on that locked tranny. Maybe one last snow run if the snow does come

Heres some new tires... 19X7-8 little wider then id like but much better then what i got now.





Now i gotta make some clearance to make them fit... lol. I was thinkin bout widening the axle (i have the same spare MTD axle beam) because welding rims to rims making them super wide is asking for bent spindles. Feedback on the axle widening thing guys?

Sounds like something i would do, its probably the best way to do it honestly. rims to rims works but isnt right.

In deep water, you will like the wider tires. they keep your feet drier lol

I dont think they will float but will definitely add some bouncy    And i totally agree with you on the top part. I think imma chop it.

Hey red can you get the model and manufacturer's brand for those tires?  Those look like something that would be beastly on the back of my rally.

I didnt forget about you.


Tires are good, has them at 20 psi yesterday and still the same today

better drop that psi to like 6psi atleast.
