I was told my version of WIN7 would need at least 60-something gb to run properly. My laptop had a 320gb HDD originally, and the more room on a drive the faster it usually goes (dunno if that applies to SSDs). I used to run 250gb and I think a 120gb but they filled up too fast.

Yea maybe it's 128GB, I got the smallest and fastest I could have for the operating system.
If I had the money, id get a 300-500gb SSD so I could run Windows again.
That's to big, no wonder you think they're expensive. I think mines a 64GB it's plenty.
I have two 64gb SSD - Patriot TorqX II's. I don't use them for data storage at all, but one for OS and essential software and the other for games. I have one other smaller set of torqx II I use for Linux in a RAID array. I think I paid 75 dollars a piece for the 32gb TorqX and about 90 for the 64gb.

Smart, I should look at that, I have to do a full wipe and install soon anyway. Also need more RAM. I have a dead stick.

Move the paging file, print spool, and user libraries to a mechanical drive, turn off indexing and last access timestamping... it will fly
