94 mtd mudder/trail rider

this is my new tractor. i have had it for a month now.

its a 94 mtd. the only mod i have done to it so far is four wheeler tires.

i did put one of my stickers on it.

flexing it a bit.

didnt take long before i got it mudding. and this is only a mild mudding trip.

this is the back of it.

i have had problems with the plastic dash cracking and the same for the grill so to solve this problem i think im going to swap the parts off my montgomery and put them on my mtd like this


i do plan on locking the transaxle sometime.

Nice, does it have the crap MTD double pulley clutch?

ya it does. but i wouldnt call it crap. i have never had a problem with them.

My 06 bolens had one, it burned a new belt in no time.

Some people have luck with them. Me personally, nope.

I've always liked the look of the front end of this style mtd, shame they always crack cuz they went with plastic. Otherwise nice tractor

Its all about what you got. If the shift on the go works, it works. Mine ate both belts haha I have the double clutch and fnr axle if you ever need it

i just rebuilt my front axle lol

I think mine is a 94-93 not shure it doesn't matter to me

i did get some work done today. i have pics on my fb page. i will get pics up on here sometime this weekend

i am taking two vids tonight. one is a walkaround of my tractor and the other will be a romp. i will be posting them on youtube tomorrow. ill let you guys know when they are up so you can check it out

sorry. the whole vid thing didnt work out. i will keep trying.

so i have a new idea. instead of using the montgomery grill i could make a custome one an make it shorter. then the hood would have a cool slope to it.

any suggestions on how to find free or cheap angle iron?

My friend has some but usually if I needed a lot my junkyard has a lot of bare metal like pipe tubing trusses and angle iron

all right. i will see if i can check a couple junk yards around here. i am also checking the scrap pile at my local dump.

im also in need of some snowblower tires for the front of my tractor

so i got a fron body on my tractor.

didnt make a custom one. i used th panels from my 1987 montgomery ward

i hopefully will be able to put pics up on here tomorrow

Cool! Needs a cool exhaust now.

Thats an improvement now id say, looks good.

im goig to keep the exhaust stock. if i have a stack ill end up rolling the tractor and rip the exhaust right off lol.

i still need to remve the mower deck height adjuster and the mounts for the deck.

and a seat replacement will come soon. the one i have is junk

i went against my inner feeling and put chains on my tires.

they run good, except for the fact that one belt keeps popping off.

out of curiosity, how hard and expensive is it to swap in a peerless.

its not that hard, just have to line the stuff up, which means raising or lowering the motor, or tranny,
as to cost, you'd have to price a tranny near you, id look for a mst, but the foote four speeds are nice too

i also would need to make a new clutch and shift linkage right? that would be the hardest prt for me
