| i have run into a problem on my mower and i need some advice/help my decompression value on my cam has broke. would it be easier to buy a new cam or replace my 12.5 briggs with a 18.5 briggs that i have on another mower? thanks for any help | |

| thanks its been painted for a year or so has scratches and starting to fade thought about painting everything black or redoing the paint job that is on there

| I'm going to have to trade my 12.5 out for a 18 I got sitten in my shop Becuase my cam has broke.its the decompression value on the cam and I don't know how to fix it would it be easier to fix or trade it out for the other motor? | |

Depends... For one with very little wrenching talent, it'd be easier to swap engines than camshafts. Also, if budget is a big concern, it is cheaper to put on an engine that you already have, rather than buy a camshaft. | |

| thanks thats what i thoought but i didnt know how hard it was to change them out? but i can pull themin my shop and swap them out sitten side beside. but i will try to get a new cam shaft when i get extrs money. just to have a extra motor. thanks for the advice and help | |

| how much will the 18.5 have horse help me from a 12.5? how much faster will that make it run? | |

| motor wont make it go faster if you only change the motor, its the gearing that makes the top speed go up. acceleration will go up with a bigger motor but not top speed unless your motor cant pull the tractor in its fastest gear( usually 6th) | |
