Briggs or Kohler? Empty

So ive got a single cyl briggs on my Gimp Horse, I got a craftsman vtwin briggs on the GFs tractor, I'm working on a buddy's single cyl Kohler and started wondering which is better? I dont like the fuel tube on the Kohler my buddy has. The guy it came from let water in the tank and now has rust issues. It wasn't horrible pulling the carb off the vtwin, but not as easy as the oppys the Mowrons run.

What are your opinions on the motors?

I like Briggs because they’re simple, cheap, common, rugged, etc

Kohler is super smooth but a little more touchy in my experience. Parts are more expensive and somewhat less common.

Ether one is fine, just as long as it’s not a courage!!!

CQ's right, basically any engine but a Kohler Courage, haha.

Kohler Command single and V-twins are great engines thar feature pressure lubrication, and the Magnum singles and opposed twins are very good engines as well. Oh and of course the legendary K Series hardly even need a mention! Hahaha.

The Briggs model 25 and 28 flattys are super simple, reliable and common engines, as with the 40, 42, and 46 opposed twins. I don't have a whole lot of experience with the newer Intek series, but I'm not a huge fan of them. The Vangaurds however are great engines.

Pretty much anything will work though.

Yep, CQ pretty much gave you everything you need to know. Kohler runs super smooth, but is complicated and expensive. Briggs are simple, tough, cheap parts, and for the most part reliable, but they don't always run good.

In my opinion Briggs are better, but I've never worked on a Kohler so I got some learning to do lol!
