@prancstaman Thank you, that works. So its a venturis nice clean flow in and out vs a restricter plate at .125 thick by 1" diameter flow which would be rough and crude that makes the difference.

Yes, nice smooth flow because of the shape. The air speeds up going into the venturi and creates a vacuum, which is how the fuel is pulled in. For tuning, the more the venturi chokes you get a stronger vacuum signal for the fuel and main jets, which will make the engine very responsive at low rpm. If you enlarge the venturi then the vacuum is less for the fuel to be drawn in at low rpm and will be sluggish at low rpm but responsive a high rpm.
It's been a good while since I had to deal with venturi size. You can look up Holley and Edelbrock Carbs, They offer this feature of tuning on their carbs. And drag racers and circle track cars play with the stuff.

@prancstaman You... had to start something like venturi tuning...Sounds like a Weber DCOE 40 may be the next possible carb. for tuning.
SGT Pepper is getting new axles. Assembled a parts needed clip to begin the transformation. Bonus material has a light inspection of transmission gears.

Probably not the right theme for this build..... but... Looking at the rear cover on that transaxle gave me an idea. You could make an clear acrylic cover instead of the metal one and then have some nifty colored LED lights inside the trans for night runs. Partly it would be obscured with oil but probably still have some glow to it.

I got a couple old Ford 97 carbs. I'll probably put one on my racer's V twin, to play with.

A little movement on SGT Pepper today. Have a little clip put together on how to disassemble a cub cadet trans axle first stage gear reduction. Preparing to replace all the forward and reverse gears and try to solve the 2nd pop out conundrum. Regards, Mister Studabaker

Second segment of the trans axle tear down. Removing the top shaft that holds the shift forks. This trans is a perfect example of typical cub trans and problems found. There is a unique upgrade contained within the the clip.
