i am new obviously. but i have been fiddling with a few mowers for about a year now. i have made 3 broke 2 and am trying to get the third one started again. this is my original. it has been killed. blew up the engine one day while working on it and am currently rebuilding and posilocking my transaxle. it is a 5 speed. had a 12.5 hp briggs. if i can get my 17.5hp started again (starter went bad and it hates starting. such high compression) than ill probably swap it over. my name is khris 2012-014

Welcome to the forum!

Chances are the hard compression is pointing to a needed valve adjustment.

this was my original. much work has been done to it. and more needed. tranny is almost done. seals have been ordered for it, and posilocking. and a new engine and a custom clutch setup is needed

this was my second one. of which it is a hydrostatic with chain drive. chain broke so i swapped it back to belt and its still running. minus my engine not wanting to start.

Welcome to the forums it looks like you got a nice mower going on there im asuming its a murray and the transaxle is a spicer or a peerless?

spicer. and yea murray. it had a 12.5 hp with the 43" cut deck.
