Grrr... went to an auction.

Once a year, there is a massive farm equipment auction near me. Big stuff, mowers, go-karts, snowmobiles, etc.

So I get a bidder number, and pick out about 10 things to bid on. Actually only bid on 2, everything else quickly went out of my price range. Really wanted this old, very small, wheelhorse ranger. Unrestored, and no compression on engine, but complete. Went to 125, other guy wanted it more. Must have been 50 people standing around as he was auctioning stuff off.

Go-karts, complete, 300 and up.
Regular mowers, even in rough shape, were over a 100.
Cheapest zero turn, a 1990 toro 40 in, went 400. Others were over a 1000.

So I spent all day there for nothing. But I got even, got a complete craftsman for 50 bucks, from an old ad on craiglist. Take that, mower gods!

It's too bad you skunked out on the Wheel Horse. Recently, there was one for sale just like it near me- same deal, too much $. Good to see you didn't end your day completely empty-handed!

I may have another on the hook... Been searching ebay/craiglist, just sent a guy an offer. No deck, but decent, newer engine. Putting 8in rims on front, maybe some small mudders on rear, lock diff, speed up 20-25, gas pedal, seperate brake, and some kind of floorboard. Steering on these is great, right from the factory. Just a fun little woods toy. I just really like the looks of them, and they are really heavy duty for how tiny they are.

The google pic looks like that wheel horse has the same seat and rear fender as my simplicity broadmoar 728 (?) I think.

No wheelhorse for me. Guy wants 250 for it, and I'm way too cheap for that. Plus I don't need another project. If I find one cheap some day, I may do it.

So, I'll just fix the craftsman, and resell in the spring, make some cash.

Yeah. We ALL say that. I was actually planning on giving that Lawn Boy a tune up, and flipping it for a profit. Then I blinked, and *BAM* MULE. I can't remember the last time I thought to myself, "Self, you need another project!" LOL
