| Subject: long time no see. need suggestions on my next project. January 21st 2013, 11:01 pm | |
| hello fellow tractor rompers! some of you may know me already and some not, im redzz02 over on youtube too, if you haven't checked out any of my videos id really appreciate it if you would.
my camp where all my mowers are caught on fire a couple months ago and the fact that I picked up a job with a lot of hours I never have weekends off to make it up camp to do some work or atleast bring a mower home to mess with. the first day I get off that I can make it up camp ill be bringing home a mower to lift, but...... I have a question for you guys about what I should get/build? should I...
buy a truck to lift and play in the mud/woods with, keep in mind I could only have it up camp which I do not get a lot of time to go up there, plus I have no truck nor trailer that can legally and safely transport the truck. this being said I can only use it in a friends woods whenever he allows me too when I go up camp.
or should I blow several hundred dollars into parts to build a 4x4 2 seater gokart out of gokart parts and lawn mower parts, having full suspension, driveshafts and all with 25's and an 18 hp twin? thank you for whoever checks out my channel and thatnk you for taking the time in reading this post and any ideas are welcome

| a trucks bigger than the cart so I have room to drive the truck so yes haha I got room to drive the cart here and up camp, I have room to drive the truck here and up camp too, I would just need to invest in a 1 ton truck and trailer to haul it, or find someone around here with a truck and trailer

| That's not what I meant.
If you have room for both at both places.
What do you want?
A killer kart/tractor/buggy can be hauled in/on the back of a pickup a truck can't.
Save up the money for the hauler and build the toy to fit.

| so basically mylist of parts from bmi karts, for almost everything for the front and rear axle minus the square tubing to make the housing, and the spider gears is 280.17$ including shipping, my bill from suplus center would be 98$ even without shipping, plus the cost of the donor gokart, 50$ and then I still need metal for the axles, and do a three link setup in the front with coil springs and leafs in the rear, I would also need 4more u joints for the drive shafts so 428.17$ is my total plus another lets say 200-300$ in metal and other parts that would be 628-728$ for 2 seater 4x4 go kart | |

Jesus, that enough to mod mowers for years. If youre serious about making a 4x4 go-kart, why not just buy a 2 seater pre-made and just mod it so it has a live front axle? I dunno how prices for go-karts are in PA but I know around here you can get them running for $500 or less. Or mod a mower. Seems a lot less complicated really. | that's where the 50$ comes in I have a two seater gokart I can get off a friend, believe it or not all of those parts are for the front and rear axle, to make them articulate like a solid axle on a truck, about 300$ of that is u joints..... wish I knew where to get them cheaper at

| Im not sure how strong they are but you might be able to use U joints from a steering assembly.
As for the rear, you shouldnt need U joints. You could run a thick, solid live axle, although you would need to limit it so it doesnt twist the chain off. Head Forum Administrator ** Chat Moderator ** Facebook Page AdminATLTF Facebook Page ** Chatbox ** How To Upload Pictures

| I'd say go for the little buggy.
I'm a fan of people that design and build their owm projects. I've had an offroad truck before and to me it became a big hassle, got to have a big garage to fit it in or your out in the weather working on it, When your broke down/ stuck in the middle of a woods its difficult to get someone to go back and get you out and so on.
Smaller toys like tractors, gocarts, atv, ect can take up very little space in a garage, and parts can be takin in a basement or spare room to be worked on. They also can go many other places a truck cant fit plus getting them there is alot easier.
Thats just my .02c In the end its up to you .
If you do build the go cart or even another tractor and need a hand or maybe a special tool, ect Im only about 1/2 of an hour away from your camp area, hit me up I'm always willing to help out members.
