It's going to have 35 speeds. It will use a 7 spd vari drive from a mtd and a 5 spd pearless so it'll have 35 gears

| So a couple minutes ago I was trying to get the mtd running n driving to see if everything works before I put TOO much time into this build and I put it in gear so the input shaft on the trans-axle wouldn't turn when I put the pulley on but it turned any in forward and reverse so i dunno whats wrong but thank goodness I wasn't planning on using that tranny because I do not have another that works. | |

| The vari drive is really a CVT tranny, with infinte ratios between the top ratio and bottom ratio. They just called it a 7 speed, because they had 7 postions.
So you have a zillion ratio tranny....

So you have a zillion ratio tranny.... COOL I never really thought of it that way, so does that mean that i can make it have more speeds?

| You could make it have any ratio, but only between the top and bottom ratio. So instead of 7 postions, you could have 3, or 12 postions. All in how you set up the shifter. It won't go any faster or slower than before. | |

| Thanks for the speed info but what pulley ratio should I put on when I get the 5 spd in (hopefully this weekend) I'm thinking 1:1 but not sure if that'll mess up the double pulley drive. Tell me what you guys think. | |

| Like I said hopefully this weekend I will get the mst-205 peerless out of my toro (or mst-206 out of another dynamark/murray) and swap it with the single speed in the mtd I will also try to get the 20hp briggs out of my parts tractor to replace the blown 18 in the mtd now. WISH ME LUCK!! | |

| I am sorry for the lack of work....with school, boy scouts, and everything else I do I didn't have much time to work on this .....BUT I now have made good progress this morning. I have everything ready all I need to do is get a pulley preferably 5'' and it needs to be compatible for a 5/8'' belt, I dont think tsc is open today but if it is I will get a pulley and get everything lined up then I might put my trans-axle in depending on if we have enough time. Hopefully i will get pics in tonight or monday night. | |

| You're 13, and doing this??? Right on! Kudos to you- I absolutely love seeing young'uns learning how to wrench- you're a dying breed. Seems most kids are just too wired in to the technocrap these days. | |
